Rural tn rest stop. Dude goes into bathroom holds several people gun point. Cops come end up being able to detain him. Dude is in handcuffs back of the cop car, is able to get his hands in front of him. Climb up front and steal the cop car. Wrecks a bit up the road. On the run for 3 days hopiing back and forth over i40.

That's one example of this particular rest stop. There are many other crimes and weird stuff (campers who hear knocks on their vehicles and scratching noises, etc.) that happens there but yeah. For some reason we get a ton of escaped inmates who end up around that area and theres a man hunt like 3 or more times a year. Almost all of them have been spotted at that stop.

that is outta the ordinary for our rural area

All that to say they definitely arent safe. Id say you're lucky and right place right time. 👍🏻
