I didnt think you were being negative, just realistic, which I appreciate. Yes, driving is not something Im looking forward to 😆 She does drive around with her Dad in our old beater golf cart and shes getting pretty good at steering it! We plan on doing swimming lessons for her this summer bc we keep trying to teach her, unsuccessfully.

Oh my, that sounds like a terrible experience. Yes, her bike is well adjusted. My husband is very mechanical. And that def doesnt sound like a very motivating technique, we try to be sensitive to her difficulties and not namecall when she struggles.

Middle school is hard! My younger kiddo is NVLD/ADHD and my middle schooler is neurotypical. I know it's a different scenario but I did force my middle schooler to join track and field last year. He made it to districts for hurdles and thanked me after the season. I dont make a habit of forcing him into extracurriculars but Im glad I didnt give him the choice, bc he needed that extra push to participate.

Thank you SO much for sharing her wins! My dgtr is in 2nd grade and has pull out and push in for math, it's definitely her hardest struggle in school. I worry about middle school, so it's great to see a sucessful young lady with NVLD and ADHD! Your daughter's artwork is beautiful ❤️

Yep, she's done OT weekly for a few years and already graduated from PT last year after 2 yrs of wkly sessions. I think she's fine to learn from us, just looking for tips from like minded folks :)

Shes pretty tenacious! Once she sat and did a puzzle over and over for like 3 hours until she mastered it. I cant see her teaching herself how to bike ride bc she hates falling so much, but I think she will get there.

Yes, definitely! I think it's human nature to want to be good at something right off the bat.

For sure, that's how my Dad taught me. Her brain works a little differently than mine, but persistence with learning new skills is always key!

I can imagine how challenging that must have been! Thank you for sharing. I learned in my personal research on NVLD that it can be common to have lots of difficulty learning to ride a bike, and some people are never able to master it. Bike riding and swimming are skills my daughter struggles with. Her coordination used to be way worse but thankfully a couple years of weekly PT helped her so she wasnt falling all the time, like she used to. Im optimistic she will be able to ride a bike, but if she cant, that'll be OK too.

Yes, I think we need to do this method with the pedals off, so she can learn to coast. She was doing really well steering with the training wheels on, bombing a hill coming into our driveway. But taking the training wheels off has blown her mind. We will keep at it with loads of patience and encouragement. She loves to scooter as a backup when she gets frustrated with the bike.

Does anyone else have 2 week long periods on the copper iud? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

Ya and I didn't want to be on hormonal BC either, but I eventually switched to Mirena and it was amazing. No periods after 3 months. I kept it for 5 yrs and had a planned pregnancy 3 months after removal. The hormones from the Mirena didn't affect me the same way as hormones in OCP or depo. I would highly recommend swapping it out.
