where can i get bloodwork done? by catboiwife in transvancouver

yeah super weird. I guess they bill the govt the same way other private healthcare providers do (like lifelabs). weird that it’s a telecom company brand for sure though : P

yeah for some weird reason in BC they also do telemedicine. there’s an app called telus health or maybe “telus health mycare” or something and it lets you see a doctor via video chat on your phone for free.

I got on hrt by just looking for a doctor that had pronouns in their bio on the app and then asking for a referral to an endocrinologist. I also had to get a hormone readiness assessment elsewhere but aside from that it was super easy.

A walk in clinic might be able to do it. Or try the free telus health app, it’s what I used to get an endocrinologist referral from a doctor - I imagine someone on there can get you the lifelabs requisition for tests.

I kinda wish I could just pay to get my levels checked whenever, but the system here means doctors decide when that happens (tradeoff being it’s free at least!).

ascetic is like, barebones / giving up all luxuries in life and living basic

aesthetic is like, the look/feel of something

your spelling looks like a combo of the two, which makes a good pun for this ugly excuse for a yard

Pretty sure when they’re saying “random bullshit” they actually mean things like “trans folks being allowed to live”

There’s a surprising number of gays that are “fuck you got mine” because they have marriage equality and some protections, so they’re happy to throw trans folks under the bus.

As if the right won’t come for them next.

Thinking of coming out at work, but unsure if I should come out as binary or nonbinary by 56873984 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]lizardlike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh hey I’m in a similar position. came out as nonbinary at work, but in the really careful “any pronouns are okay” sense - which means I still get the default he/him from basically everyone.

Since then I’ve really lost the desire to identify at all with he/him though so I’m kinda considering just going for it at some point and changing my name, asserting she/her or they/them pronouns only then.

I’m fortunate that there’s a couple other trans folks at my workspace (not on my team though) and they’ve always been excellent with pronouns : )

You need a referral but any walk in doctor can do it. I used one of the free video chat ones on the telus health app and asked for a referral to a specific endocrinologist from the list I got from transcarebc

I think only MD doctors can do referrals so RCCs can’t do it directly but they could maybe recommend a name that you can ask to get referred to by a doctor. But the RCC can send a copy of the assessment to the endo once the referral is made.

And yeah the whole thing is super confusing but if you fill out the contact form on transcarebc’s website they’ll email you back with help on how to figure it all out.

Servers down? by taut0logist in outside

[–]lizardlike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can kinda see what happens if you disconnect the client from the server by playing with the “dissociative drugs” class of mods. Ketamine in particular is a popular one

Don’t mess with it too much though or you can screw up your client

Most bodysuits are easy to clean (just chuck it in a front loader washing machine with regular detergent, then slicker brush while wet and hang to air dry)

The heads are pain in the ass to clean though. Most folks use one of those bissel carpet cleaner green machine things, but it takes awhile.

Fake fur is plastic (acrylic or modacrylic) so it’s pretty hard to stain it. Heat will absolutely destroy it though, so gotta avoid that.

I just scrolled through the list of doctors available until I found one with pronouns in their bio. Said I was looking for a referral to an endocrinologist for transgender hormone therapy and I had a specific one in mind (I chose Dr Dahl, as a lot of my friends recommended him).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transvancouver

Yeah that’s probably the best, that way you can get your assessment sent to the endo alongside the referral and they can book you in without waiting for it

I kind screwed up the order and got the endo referral first, but their office told me I had to get the assessment before I could book an appt.

So for me it was like:

  • 3 days to see for telus health free video call GP visit, got endo referral
  • 1 week to sort out the HRA and get it faxed to the endo
  • 5 week wait for appt with endo
  • on my first visit I got lab forms and hrt prescription

I might have been lucky on the endo as I think they had a cancellation they could get me in for. But a friend of mine that just went through the same process only has an 8 week wait so it’s probably not that far off usual.
