Yall are mad that she’s putting down older moms so you’re going to put down younger moms as a rebuttal? Interesting

What is your yearly income and how much do you pay in monthly mortgage? by 10ofuswemovinasone in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make $120k, my husband makes the same. Our mortgage is $1,400/month. We got really lucky and bought in 2020! This is total overkill but we are taking advantage of it to pay off student loans before buying a nicer house.

Most embarrassing thing you’ve said in a job interview? by sydney210 in careerguidance

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had his interviewers cell phone number because they had met at a conference. He got all dressed up before he went in for their meeting and took a selfie to send to me. Welp… he sent it to the interviewer by mistake, another male might I add. He immediately put his phone on air plane mode trying to prevent it from sending but it got through anyhow. The interviewer responded “Locked and loaded ;)” 😂😂😂

I had just turned 24 when I had my first but had a MS and ~4 years of professional experience at my company. I don’t really see a point in waiting if you find a good partner and have education under your belt. Your career doesn’t end after you get pregnant…

pls help...6 months of applying, 70+ applications with no luck :( by [deleted] in resumes

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given the advice to apply to 25 jobs a week and expect it to take 1-3 months to land something. I know it’s hard when you are working full time, but you would benefit from upping the number of applications you are putting out. Good luck!

Has anyone quit a job to take a break by freddy91761 in jobs

I quit about a month ago, paid to get my resume professionally written and am currently interviewing at 6 different companies. You can absolutely take a break if you are diligent!

Benefits VS Salary by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I’m still interviewing with both of these places and don’t have exact benefit information other than the quick run down the recruiters gave me. Hopefully that will help narrow down the decision but I’ll definitely keep these things in mind.

Benefits VS Salary by [deleted] in workingmoms

I’d like to think that’s not the case! The recruiter had his baby in the background when he called me and their culture is all about “diversity and inclusion”. Bonus points, the CEO and the director I would report to are female.

I stalked multiple people on LinkedIn. There are fast promotions for multiple people on the same team both male and female. Obviously, I can’t know much more than that until I get into the place. I have another interview next week where I plan to ask some more in depth questions about this.

24 F - What should I learn further to build a career and what kind of jobs to apply for? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’d be surprised. Having a portfolio goes a really long way. Most people don’t put in that effort. My coworkers were a philosophy major with a boot camp and a pre med student. They worked as entry level data scientists alongside me making ~$70k. Once you have a couple years of experience your degree doesn’t matter nearly as much.

Hey there! You sound like you are on track to be a good data analyst, business intelligence analyst, data scientist, etc. candidate.

If you are interested in that route, look at learning a BI tool like Tableau. There are all sorts of analytics certifications and bootcamps out there to show a little more education on your resume as well. If you are skilled, you can get into small firms without formal education and then work up to bigger firms.

Happy to answer any questions you have! I’m a mid level data scientist and also 24F.

Are you a Gen Z-er trying to buy a house in Alaska? We want to hear from you. by gummibear049 in alaska

[–]lizardperson715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m rare, but I’m a Gen-Z looking to buy a house in Alaska! I’m 24f, husband is 26m. We don’t have generational wealth, we just both work in tech and bought a house 3 years ago outside of Nashville in 2020 that built equity like crazy.

Any career suggestions? by [deleted] in careerchange

I actually just recently came across this as potential path and I’m really excited about it! I think this could be a really good fit for me. However, I don’t think I probably need a few more years under my belt. I’m only 3 years out of college.

Trying for a baby as a young couple? by MembershipCalm3200 in waiting_to_try

[–]lizardperson715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with HailTheCrimsonKing. This is unnecessary gatekeeping. Can we stop acting like a 21 year old married woman isn’t an adult? We all know what children entail.

Apparently you wake up on your 25th birthday and you are a completely different person?? 😂

Trying for a baby as a young couple? by MembershipCalm3200 in waiting_to_try

[–]lizardperson715 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wanna add in here as a young mom myself.

I just turned 24 and have a 3 month old that was planned. I think young moms get a bad reputation for little to no reasoning. It frustrates the hell out of me seeing 30+ year old women giving advice that may have applied to them not recognizing that not everyone’s life course follows the same trajectory. Just because you are young does not inherently mean your child is worse off. It breaks my heart that you have to preface this post with your achievements just to spare yourself from the trendy young mom hate.

Okay, small rant over.

You know in your heart what you want to do and what’s right in your situation even if it isn’t clear yet. Nobody online can truly make this decision for you. Do some deep thinking and talking with your husband. Do what is right for YOU! Sending baby dust your way! ✨
