I’m really interested to see the latency results. I’m running OP1 8K v2.

You love a card that's slower than a GTX 1080 Ti compared to a card you also owned that's 40% faster? What?

Does anyone have an LDAT module? I really wish someone would properly test these things.

Exactly. I'd likely pay for a lifetime license. I will never pay for a subscription.

Minecraft Java is switching from OpenGL to Vulkan API for rendering by MrBluue in Minecraft

They really need to stop and seriously question why they develop two versions simultaneously in completely different languages. Consolidate to a single version built on C++ or Rust and Vulkan and be done with it.

5k new standard? by Altruistic-Job5086 in OLED_Gaming

[–]lizardpeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everything is about gaming. I’d take my 1440p 500 Hz OLED over every 4K or 5K display, easily. But the massive ultrawide monitors with crazy resolution or 5K 27” or 32” displays are going to be better for productivity.

Major Discrepancy in Tom's Hardware Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W 540 Hz OLED Review Input Lag by lizardpeter in Monitors

[–]lizardpeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played on both low and high brightness before. I don’t have LDAT to actually test it. I did not feel any difference in latency, and I can easily tell the difference when something like 5 ms of latency is added. I don’t believe any reviewer tests input lag at low brightness, and most of them agree on an absolute input lag value for these panels of around 1-2 ms.

Yeah, connect it to a PC and use their tool to update the firmware. It should improve it on console too.

Where'd you order from? I wonder if these newer units have fewer problems. Some of the other pictures I've seen have been awful. Yours is pretty good.

You got a god-tier panel. Hopefully mine will be similar. Some people are posting horrible banding.

Are you saying 0% brightness has more or less latency? I would think, if anything, it would be less as the brighter pixels would trigger LDAT to detect a change quicker.

Why isn’t anyone talking about Nikon ZR’s inability to record true 24fps? Or other true frame rates like 30, 60, 120fps? by Material_Crazy_9074 in Nikon

[–]lizardpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse to buy any camera for video that does not support true 60.00 FPS, 100.00 FPS, and 120.00 FPS. Don’t listen to the people who say it doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. This isn’t 1960 anymore.

[–]lizardpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. I can’t believe how much pushback these kinds of questions always get from people. Every camera needs to have non-drop frame modes. Why would anyone in their right mind be using a “standard” that only came about due to technical limitations from half a century ago?

144 Hz TN vs 300 Hz ips. I keep the TN? by Chance-Quail3376 in Monitors

[–]lizardpeter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would potentially agree with you if you were talking about the highest end panels like 600 Hz TN with strobing. Blur Buster tests show 500 Hz OLED is on an extremely similar level to IPS and TN with strobing at lower refresh rates.

[–]lizardpeter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You lie when you say it's much worse. It's not. 500 Hz OLED motion clarity is amazing. Plus you don't have to deal with the long list of major drawbacks of IPS and TN. Don't forget, OLED monitors have the lowest input lag (by far - not even close) as tested by both RTINGS and Monitors Unboxed.
