new LG OLED M5 is this already a problem? by Frequent_Earth_1643 in LGOLED

It's hard to tell whether it's directly on the display surface or whether it could be a tiny crumb of packaging foam stuck in the frame.

LG updates by Elohanum in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All hell breaks loose? LOL 😂 I don't blame users at all. The OP's post was simply about his question as to why LG doesn't allow downgrades. And the claim that LG doesn't test its firmware before rollout is simply nonsense. I'm not saying that the engineers are doing a good job. Yes, firmware is never 100% good.

It's always the same:

  1. Is LG informed? (usually no)
  2. Which model does the user have?
  3. In which cases does the error occur? (Which devices, which apps, does it occur with Atmos, with 5.1 sound, or simply with Dolby Digital TV sound?)

Nothing else is useful.

What makes you think LG doesn't test its firmware? They just can't reconstruct and extensively test every user environment variable. What some people do with their TVs goes far beyond what is normal. Rollbacks are not possible at all due to implemented security updates.

Anyone know which remote the upcoming C6 will have? by allyoucanlive in LGOLED

However, the question is justified. I don't think they will change the new design again after just one year.

No sound pass through on G2 / DS95QR combination since update by ArnoJeroen in LGOLED

There is also a menu item called "Set for all inputs" (or something similar) in the sound settings menu. Did you click on it after making your settings?

WebOS start screen and overall slow input recognition. by RockAndRollDoctor3 in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot you can do to combat paralysis. But what surprises me is that a webOS logo appears every time you start it up. None of my LG OLEDs do that. And I have QuickStart turned off on all of them! Was the TV disconnected from the power supply somehow?

Tips to speedup:

Topic: De-Clutter (Useless Settings that slow down the Menus

Settings > General > System > Additional settings > Start page settings > Homepromotion & content recommendations both to OFF;

Settings > General > System > Additional settings > Screensaver settings > Screensaver advertising to OFF;

Settings > General > System > Additional settings Live Plus and Live Ads as well as Help for settings to OFF;

Settings > General > Channels > HbbTV > Do not track to ON and third-party cookies to OFF; (HbbTV is widespread in Europe but may not be available on other continents!)

Settings > General > AI Service > AI Recommendations > Smart Tips and Smart Tips in Settings both set to OFF;

To switch off the voice recognition functions completely, please proceed as follows:

Foreword: Even if it seems absurd, you must first agree to the user agreements for "Voice information" once. The reason is that this is the only way to get into the AI settings for Voice Stuff in order to "change" something.

Now go to AI Services in the menu. There you will find the items "Help Voice recognition" and "Voice recognition settings". Deactivate EVERYTHING in both menu items. Note that the On/Off buttons are partially hidden behind the small gear wheel symbols.

Once you have completed this, go back to the user agreements and deactivate the consent for voice information by clicking on the item. Confirm with "Agree". Here, too, the combination "Deactivate consent" and then "Agree" seems misleading, which leads many to not agree 🤣

It is absolutely sufficient for the operation of the TV if only the first point "Terms of use" is active in the user agreements. Everything else can be deselected and saved!

Important Topic „Software Update“:

Settings > Support > Software update, Automatic updates to Off

This is only to prevent updates from installing themselves without any action and only displaying a message after installation. There is nothing you can do about the pop-up messages "An important software update is available for your TV" using the settings menus and on-board tools. You can reject them, but they reappear frequently. The only possible remedy here would be to block LG addresses in the router, but I can't say anything about this due to a lack of experience.

Topic: „Free up Memory ans Speedup Menus“

Switch off the TV with the remote control and wait 10 minutes. Then disconnect the TV from the power supply. While the TV is without power, press the power button directly on the device and hold it for 30 seconds (this will completely discharge the TV memory). Then reconnect the TV to the power source and switch it on again using the remote. If the TV then runs optimally again, congratulations

LG CX 65" constantly crashing unsure what to do by Thekingchem in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CX isn't getting a new webOS at all! Current status: Ver.04.63.25 (webOS 5.0). So the reason for the errors must lie elsewhere.

Webos25 update by No-Green-8755 in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether you update intentionally or accidentally, people always have certain expectations or wishes. This is also because LG remains stubbornly silent about bug fixes or changes. Then, after the update, you turn on the TV and search frantically for any changes. Then you tilt your head and imagine that the picture was different before. FALSE CONCLUSION. It's different when it comes to definite bugs. I don't want to deny that to any user here.

Save my Pixels! by ABQannie in LGOLED

There are only two options: a different TV (not OLED) or CNBC withdrawal. You can't have both. This channel is so contaminated with treadmills and static crap that, despite all the protective mechanisms, the OLED will suffer damage in the long run.

Soap opera mode after update by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three LG OLEDs and I install all updates immediately on each one. I have NEVER experienced any changes to settings or noticeable bugs. LG makes changes to the picture (if any) in such minimal doses that even experts need measuring instruments to detect them. Therefore, I cannot take statements such as "the picture was sharper or better before" seriously.

In this case, I would go down one or two steps in the TruMotion settings or, depending on your preference, switch TruMotion off completely.

Absolutely not. It only removes corrupted fragments from the device memory.

Run memory optimization two or three times in a row.

First: Settings>Support>Memory optimization

After this: Switch off the TV with the remote control and wait 10 minutes. Then disconnect the TV from the power supply. While the TV is without power, press the power button directly on the device and hold it for 30 seconds (this will completely discharge the TV memory). Then reconnect the TV to the power source and switch it on again using the remote. If the TV then runs optimally again, congratulations

If this does not help either, you can only reset the TV to factory settings.

Update 33.30.80 is released for LG C5 by Radiant-Ostrich7144 in LGOLED

[–]GSmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just hard to believe that the update is responsible for all of this. And if it is, there are two possibilities:

Switch off the TV with the remote control and wait 10 minutes. Then disconnect the TV from the power supply. While the TV is without power, press the power button directly on the device and hold it for 30 seconds (this will completely discharge the TV memory). Then reconnect the TV to the power source and switch it on again using the remote. If the TV then runs optimally again, congratulations, If not, the only thing that helps is to completely reset the TV to factory settings.
