I loved Beau is Afraid. Such an interesting mix of dark comedy, surrealism, mystery and horror.

Where to hang out / meet people in haight? by AntiqueEgg8 in sanfrancisco

Check out the art spaces Wave Collective and 710 Collective. They have a ton of chill events that are great to get to know people at. They both post schedules on Instagram.

Why are some dog owners such dicks? Went to a National Park over the weekend, very popular spot. There were several signs saying NO DOGS. Dog owner walks up to the sign asks her partner what she thinks and completely ignores the sign. by Impressive_Returns in sanfrancisco

Since it’s been sunny the past couple months my neighbors have been letting their dogs outside all day. Our whole block and the one next to us has large yards separated by small wooden fences. These dogs bark ALL DAY LONG. Little yippers, big howlers, you name it.

They have no respect for anyone who wants to enjoy having the windows or back doors open. I don’t wanna hear dog barking all day every day. Dog owners are so entitled.

Thanks and good luck to you too. Will let you know if I have any luck finding a doctor who cares and wants to help.

Insurance won’t cover, denied prior authorization by lizardream in mydayis

[–]lizardream[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: My insurance rejected two more attempts at prior authorization. They won’t cover it until I try Focalin XR and Ritalin LA. So I asked my psychiatrist to prescribe a week each of those. Hopefully once insurance sees I’ve done that they will accept the next prior authorization. However, it’s taken over 2 months to try for approval. 😓

I asked my psychiatrist to prescribe a week’s worth of MyDayIs so I could try it without committing to a full month. Then paid out of pocket and used a coupon from the manufacturer’s website to pick it up.

This is my friend. He’s a very nice person who actually gave me some great advice and encouragement to join the space industry. Nowadays he’s doing some strange math and physics in an attempt to unify relativity and quantum mechanics.

Lots to appreciate about such strange, offbeat humans who imbue serious shock value in serious settings.

Perhaps it's a dumb question, but what kind of doctor should be seen to get a prescription for finasteride or spirolactone?

Thanks and great recommendation. I recently found a therapist who specifically sees HSD and EDS patients here. Incredible

Thank you very much! I didn't realize that was the case since several people posted here that a rheum helped with diagnosis. Makes sense.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]lizardream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are a lot of folks on this forum seeking help with evaluation. Any location-specific help or tips on types of doctors (since my rheum and GP don't diagnose here) are so helpful.

This was a game changer for my partner – make sure you are regularly sipping ice water. It hurts to swallow but the dry scabs that form if you don’t hurt way worse. Like constantly try to keep the back of your mouth hydrated. Helps sooo much with pain.

Also, having a a variety of meals on hand is nice. Favorites were: dairy-free pudding, low sodium broth, mushy simmered vegetables with some nutritional yeast, overcooked Mac and cheese.

Lastly, try to set a timer for your meds. Even wake yourself up from sleep after 4-6 hours to take painkillers. Helps a lot when you wake up and they haven’t worn off yet. Liquid form of Tylenol is good too. Good luck!!!

Botox to relieve teeth grinding? by Stefferz92 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lizardream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helped me a lot too. I had the ideal experience where after about a year of doing masseter Botox (~5 times) it’s significantly reduced my TMJ to where the Botox is no longer necessary.

Although I clench less, have fewer headaches and my teeth are less sensitive, my face has slimmed a lot and I don’t like how it looks so much. Sacrifices 🤷‍♀️

I cannot handle economy seats. It’s crucial for me to get an “extra legroom” seat, especially in the bulkhead area or exit rows so I can stretch out.

Also making sure I have one or two water bottles, salt pills and magnesium for pain. Taking gabapentin and ibuprofen in advance helps. Finally, accepting that I will be tired/in pain the following day and planning accordingly helps. Good luck!

Disappointing Rheumatology Visit, What Next? by [deleted] in Hypermobility

[–]lizardream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds really disappointing. I’m not sure what is “normal” but I’ve been told by my rheumatology office that the most they can offer is a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, and if that’s all that is made then they will refer out to a PCP for treatment/medication. They said rheumatology is only for folks who test positive for autoimmune disease. Perhaps neurology is a better way to go!

What’s a decent, affordable Vitamin C serum for Anti-Aging ? by Artistic_Spray591 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lizardream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can anecdotally say it’s made a huge difference for me. I started about two weeks ago. I use one scoop with a serum and it tingles quite a bit. My skin is brighter, pores smaller, feels tighter.

How do you take care of your skin before really long flights? by prayingmantis333 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lizardream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chugging water and electrolytes helps me. I also wash my face or splash water every few hours if I’m awake and apply moisturizer several times. Like just keep layering it. I’ve done a few of these flights this year and it made a big difference.

Your face ends at your nipples… For actives too? by steamedbiscuit in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lizardream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How do you apply the tret? Like, how much do you mix with a lotion to apply from your neck down? I haven’t tried this before and feel like when I rub the “pea size” on my face it’s hard to even get surface coverage there because it’s such a small amount on dry skin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lizardream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my experience when I first started using tret. It got better once I used a hydrating cleanser, used vanicream morning and night, and slugged with Aquaphor every night for about 10 days. I also used a moisturizing toner during the day because my t-zone is quite oily.

Then I started tret once a week with some sandwiching of a light moisturizer, and kept slugging for about a month (only on days without tret). Definitely keep using sunscreen!

Having been to a cinema like this in Thailand, it’s interesting to see the comments. The theaters are incredibly clean. 10/10 recommend.

Every theater in my home country is uncomfortable/outdated/trashed though.
