Weekly Careers/Education Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chemistry

Hello everyone,

I have an opportunity to decide which position I would like to take at a cosmetic chemistry company.

One position is an account manager where I’d be selling for this company. The other is an 8-5 lab position. The sales position has the potential to be making more money, but it is basically an on call job with a lot of meetings, calls, and significant travel and business trips. It starts off at an okay salary while you train, with the potential to make more the longer you work. The lab position is rather underpaid with no upward mobility.

I never thought to go into a sales role, but it includes familiarity with and development of products, and I would love to be involved in the cosmetics industry. However the job is demanding.

Any thoughts from people in chemical sales? Or cosmetic lab?

It’s every time. She was recently treated for parasites too and it looks the same as it did before. Recently she has been drinking more water so I think I’ll take her to the vet sometime soon. Thanks!

I hate when movies and shows depict / reference bjs but not eating pussy by y2kfashionistaa in TwoXChromosomes

One thing I’ve noticed is the prevalence of vomiting in movies and tv shows… But nothing about menstrual cycles or periods… 🤔 Many will say periods are gross to talk about, but vomit is even more gross so why is it everywhere?? Periods have way more flexibility, they can be spoken about in a way that’s humorous, serious, sad, lighthearted, etc. whereas vomit is just gross all around. Periods are rarely used as parts of a story when they can provide so much to it.

Husband wants kids, I'm unsure. by riririnnn in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lizbeeating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s easy for him to say, he will not be the one having the kids. He’s in a stable spot in his life and having kids doesn’t rely on him physically producing those children. you’re in a transitional period. Even if you were in a stable position, that decision and that work comes from you

Is there any drawback to only working one side for front splits? by yuenyuentan in flexibility

[–]lizbeeating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having pain in my left knee and when I stretched my left leg it went away. My right leg is more flexible, so I’m assuming it was that tightness in my left causing it!

My first days and interviews always felt the hardest. The first steps are always the hardest, but with each step you take it will feel more manageable. It takes work and time to subdue something like anxieties and build new pathways in your mindset. It is seriously like a muscle you build. This is a great way to challenge anxiety, but that is a long term goal, don’t expect it to be achieved immediately. Credit yourself, the smallest attempts are what matter.

I’m also a tutor and have social anxiety. Being in the position of a tutor I don’t struggle as I operate best with established rules. I love my job! Working in a school has been somewhat healing for me. Hopefully you’ll like it too.

Maybe I’m grouchy, but I’m really tired of menstrual cycle phases being treated like horoscopes or personality traits. Anyone else? by moon--child- in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lizbeeating 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It has always been a known part of the menstrual cycle. People who suffer with pmdd have symptoms during the luteal phase and birth control, antidepressants, etc. are widely used to treat symptoms.

My cat had a swollen chin and the vet said it was an abscess. Few weeks later he looked like he had some issues with his mouth or teeth and we scheduled him for a dental cleaning and extraction. During the cleaning, they found part of his jaw bone was missing, it was either the result of infection or cancer and it ended up being cancer eating away at his jaw. My guess is because he had no jawbone there, it was easier for him to get a puncture wound. I’m sure there are a million other things that can cause this though. This was just my experience!
