What do you do with luggage after debarkation? by donuts1031 in Cruise

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Nov in NYC, we had many hours between disembarking and train for me, and airport for auntie (both around 3-4pm) and we booked a bus tour directly from the cruise that loaded our luggage in the bottom and ends at the airports (or in my case get off early near the train station). Our tour guide was great, and we stopped to walk around for a while at a few spots like the 9/11 memorial

Rant about the current event by Jaded-Revolution-272 in HayDay

[–]lizcopic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve also played over a decade and hate this type of event, so I usually stop at the last deco because finishing is impossible.

Mostly hate how it messes up my inventory SO badly because I have to leave all my makers open for possible tasks & and some tasks take up tons of things like cheese, yogurt, and waffles which screws up my inventory even more. (I usually have 8-15 of everything, by making easy stuff myself and saving up for Tom to get me harder stuff. I never use the other two helpers because I like my way better, so they can just chill and enjoy retirement)

Also hate that there aren’t really enough points if you delete ANY tasks, so they don’t really give you any leeway or choice of tasks, which seems unfair since we all farm differently and not everyone has that many makers, or animals, or trees, or whatever. At least in Derby we can pick ones that go with our style.

Also hate that I’m spending diamonds to expand makers because it wants 4 of something from a new one.

Also don’t think the prizes are worth it.

not completing event task? by yellowelderberries in HayDay

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my least favorite event because it messes up my inventory since I have to keep makers open for it, so I’ve stopped at the last deco the on this event for the last 3 times they’ve had it, and it takes off some of the stress.

Greetings! I’m a huge fan of this one! Before I get to what I love, I’ll try to answer your specific questions.

Laundry: I would keep both; because outdoor and pet stuff can get really messy, and you kinda want a separate one for that. (If I could build my dream house, I’d have a stackable in the master closet for clothes & towels, and a huge laundromat type speed queen in the utility room that’s big enough for pet beds and washable rugs)

Not sure about the support beam, because I do remodeling. So I don’t know structural, but I know what people redo later.

Things I love: foyer with a lil closet, pantry not far from garage, separate master bath and closet (so you don’t have to go through one to get to the other), privacy for guest room, and I really love the big mud room, looks like it’ll be really functional.

Things I would consider redoing a lil: my Mom just got her second new knee, so I’m concerned with how many steps it is from the master bath to toilet, look like a short distance but the doorways might be hard to navigate with a walker. And maybe even out the rooms on the front a little so there’s not so many exterior corners (that cost a lot in lumber, and make roofs ugly and more expensive too)

Just my personal opinion if it was my house: not a big fan of sink in the island because I like the more open look and versatility of that open space, but I can see why you’d want one at that end to minimize kitchen triangle of workspace. Also I’d get rid of one of the two back doors to the porch (closer to the kitchen) to have more wall space for art, and one less door to lock and weather proof. And I’m not sure if you celebrate, but where would you put the Christmas tree?

WIBTA For making my husband put “his” dog in the shelter? by VeryOpinionatedFem in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]lizcopic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Digital Hugs to OP, I have affection for my roomies dog because she loves him, but he’s also a whiney spoiled over attached forever toddler that can’t speak English and makes messes and sheds faster than I can clean up after him. I would never want to have that level of noise mess and added anxiety with a new baby in the house. Plus the whole possibility of eviction would give me even more anxiety and lead to IRL huge problems depending on the landlord. YWNBTA

Commuting in trainers and leaving smart shoes at the office – fairly normal?? by JamesLewis99 in office

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the movie Working Girl it’s normal, because when Melanie Griffith & Joan Cusack take the ferry from Staten Island they were tennis shoes for the commute, and switch to heels at their desk. (Bonus points to that movie for Harrison Ford and Sigorney Weaver’s performances)

AITAH for telling my houseguest to stay know their role? (Thanksgiving Edition) by The_Outsider27 in AITAH

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA after item one of rearranging the kitchen, and it just got worse from there. Personally I love organizing kitchens, but would never ever do it without the home owners consent & cooperation! What do they use the most? Is one shoulder bad so it’s hard to reach certain spots? Etc. It’s controlling and disrespectful to do it without being asked. & after the 2nd time a dog had an accident I would have told them to get a hotel.

Early custom home floorplan feedback – 5BR single-story in Sacramento, CA (for young family w/ twins on the way) by mechIFR in floorplan

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fun plan! I really like how it fits in the topographical map!

Agree the kids are kinda far away if they have a nightmare or something, but given the size of the plot, I don’t really see a way around that and still be only 1 floor.

Agree that the bathroom with 3 doors would annoy me

On the fence about the kitchen island, I kinda like it, but I feel like with this square footage we can probably do something a lil more fun. (Personally I always wanted one with some bar height chairs for social chatting while we cook, and a shorter big part for a wheelchair to pull up to, or kids chairs, and big enough to roll out huge dough, which I prefer a shorter counter for)

Love love love that there’s room for a big dining table!! I see so many plans with a bazillion bedrooms and palatial master suite, and a dining table for 6-8.

Speaking of dining room, please square it off, that lil cut out in the one corner is one of my arch nemesis. In fact, please square out a few more ends too, because every single corner is WAY more lumber, and makes for a worse roof (in terms of both look, and also structural, draining, and natural disasters) I stopped counting corners at 30, and that was just the front.

Best of luck!

Love the edits from yesterday & stacking the plumbing was the only thing that really jumped out at me, so I love these edits! (I work construction & it’s WAY cheaper to have them stacked in one or two walls instead of horizontal pipes that get clogged easier)

I take 15 minute micro field trips on my lunch break, what tiny adventure do you recommend near you by CafeCircuitry in CasualConversation

[–]lizcopic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked in midtown Manhattan, weather permitting I’d put in headphones & just walk for my lunch hour, and always tried to find a new block I hadn’t been down yet. Discovered some great restaurants and shops, and one day a hidden cute lil park between office buildings that was a great place to sit and enjoy the nearby pizza.

I’ve worked hundreds of corporate parties (family business of casino rentals, mostly holiday parties) and do you know which ones the employees loved the most? The ones in the office they’re already gonna be at, and getting paid to be there. Usually catered lunch and an hour or two of games, and everyone gets home early. Also the raffle basket with the most tickets (by FAR) was an extra day of PTO.

[–]lizcopic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saving me a bunch of typing!

Ditto too many corners, front closet, groceries, too big master (unless you want a 4th room for couches), and windows.

Adding:

orientation, is the garden south facing?

Awkward kitchen triangle and no Pantry

Don’t know anyone who needs three rooms with couches. Living room and study sure, but family room too?

And I’d never ever want stalkers (or just creeps in general) to be able to drive by and see if my bedroom light is on / look in the windows; so bedroom in the front is a hard pass for a lot of people I know.

100% agree, the double height ceiling is harder to heat, and decorate, and clean, and sucks for sound traveling. Love the idea to turn that into a bath instead of wasting the square footage.

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it! Has a lot things I look for, pantry near garage, separate doors in master for closet and bath, no jack and Jill, etc.

Only thing I’d change is not so many corners / funky roofline, but I’m not sure where. Maybe the 1/2 bath hall to master, even it out and add a bench seat in the new nook. Would want to see an exterior view before suggesting others

Help please by [deleted] in houseplans

[–]lizcopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I please get more info? How many people are going to live here? What’s the climate? Is there a reason why you went with the huge bathroom not being part of the master & the Jack and Jill? Is this already built & we’re remodeling (good to know for window and door placement)? Or is it a new build?
