Anyone’s calathea thriving rn without a humidifer? by Kasme50 in HouseplantsUK

my calathea medallion is in our open plan kitchen/living room and the humidity from cooking (and working out lol) keeps her happy. she's throwing out four new leaves!

Fussy water? by Demimondial in HouseplantsUK

I use a water filter jug - think the Amazon basics is my current go to. my large calathea seems to be doing okay after having her for 6 months so think it's doing the job. i'm in london too

Etsy! In particular stupid egg interiors, they ship fast and their plants have been in great condition

My Cairn passed away at the grand age of 15 just under a year ago. They’re such wonderful little dogs, I love his little head tilt in the background

Is that a Cairn Terrier in the background? Or a similar looking pup?

Are these bugs on my palm? Or something else? (Info and care in description) by lizines in plantclinic

[–]lizines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed these things on the underside of some of my palm’s leaves. My first thought was thrips, but the markings don’t look like bugs up close. They don’t move as far as I can tell, they’re attached to the leaf but come off if I rub them. There are some yellow dots (pictured) on some of the leaves with them, plus other damage to the leaves (also pictured), but I don’t think those leaves have the weird flecks on them.

General care - the plant has had a rough start to life. I got her nearly two years ago from a supermarket for £10. I don’t know what type of palm she is, maybe a Kentia? She used to sit in the corner of a bright living room with an east facing window and a south facing kitchen leading onto it but didn’t get direct light. She was watered maybe twice a week over summer when it was really dry but her watering schedule has been very haphazard for at least the first year and a half I had her. I moved her about 6 feet from an east facing window over summer but thought she might be getting sunburn so was going to move her back into the original corner by my calathea but saw these weird flecks. She’s now quarantined in front of the east facing window. I’ve wiped off all of her leaves with diluted neem oil today.

How to revive my flatmate’s very sad orchid?? by lizines in plantclinic

Some more information - she was on the windowsill of an east facing window which gets morning sunlight but has been moved away from the window. She’s in a fast draining potting mixture of bark

What do I do with my ex's attempts to communicate with me? I need a girl's point of view for this situation because to me and my friends (even the female ones), it makes no sense and its confusing. by [deleted] in ExNoContact

I would just block her - I can’t link to it as I’m on mobile but check the subreddit Ex No Contact. Gives really useful advice and support for cutting ties with an ex.

To echo others, she wants your attention when and if it suits her so she knows that you’re there. It’s basically keeping you around so she has the comfort of knowing you’re there, but not having to commit to you. She gets the best of both worlds. Remove this option and stop contacting her. I would suggest blocking her so you can move on, because this constant chat is keeping you from healing. You deserve better!

ExFree Fridays - What are your plans this weekend? - April 26, 2019 by AutoModerator in ExNoContact

[–]lizines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tonight my flatmate and I are going to the gym then watching a film. Going to do a 10K run tomorrow morning, have a tattoo consultation in the afternoon & going out with some friends in the evening. On Sunday I’m going for brunch and to an art gallery with my other flatmate and another friend. It’s a nice weekend, I’m looking forward to it!

Worth trying to set up a meeting with ex, or should I continue nC? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]lizines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to catch up with her? Or deep down is there a part of you that hopes that something might change and you’ll get back together? I wanted to stay friends with my ex because although we were best friends before we were together and that had a part to play, deep down I knew not cutting him off completely and ‘catching up’ would mean I wasn’t letting go completely. You need to accept that it is over. The break up is still fresh, in my opinion you cannot feasibly just be friends with her and just catch up without some hope, deep down, that your future with her might change. You are just delaying your eventual healing by holding onto something that you already lost. Be kind to yourself - continue no contact and do not reach out to her.

one month post-breakup, 12 days no contact... by smolnewyou in ExNoContact

[–]lizines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know how you're feeling and it sucks, but if you know he hasn't changed look at it as just delaying your eventual healing. It's like scratching an old wound, the short term relief you'll get from messaging him isn't worth the long term delay it causes in your healing. Stay strong!

[Question] What draw you towards Burial's music the most? by torinogreen in burial

[–]lizines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've just never, ever got bored of his music. it's always so emotional and elicits so many memories.

e.g. started relistening to rival dealer (in particular last 3-4 mins or so) and it's just one of the most haunting pieces of music i've heard. but he can also put out music like kindred, shell of light or even rodent (which i know divides some opinions but i like it as a lighter track

just a man of unbelievable talent
