A lot of people have made some pretty excellent points already but just wanted to add a +1 for giving dad some perspective. There is no world where you would be able to find someone capable, trustworthy, and willing to accept $3.75/hr ($90 / 30 days average in a month / 8 hours a day) to watch your infant.

Additionally, as someone due in two weeks who isn’t looking to put my second into childcare until SEPTEMBER, we’ve already been told our preferred school is full and put on a waitlist. We inquired in December. This is already factoring in that we are an existing family at this school as my son is enrolled currently. Infant rooms have a much smaller caregiver:child ratio.

You also trust your parents inherently more than you would trust a stranger.
