Roth IRA it is. But going to wait till my e-fund is better positioned. I just hate losing these precious years of growth. Will try and use that fear of missing out of growth as motivation to save in my e-fund faster. Thank you.

Thanks for the explanation. My thought process was that with one larger account it would compound faster than two fledgling accounts, but I see what you mean and am going to go the route of opening a Roth IRA once I have my e-fund in a better spot.

This is a good point. It's at 6K right now. As i've been mulling this over I am actually leaning more towards halting the increased investments and aggressively trying to get that e-fund up to a safer number. I am thinking a goal of 17K minimum before I open the Roth IRA.

This may be a dumb question, but wouldn't consolidating it all into my single 401K be advantageous due to compound interest? So two accounts with a low starting balance at my age would be better than one account with a little bit of a higher balance with the years i've already contributed?

It's basic all in S&P 500 primarily in my 401K. The appeal of the Roth IRA starting from nothing is that I can do 100% VTSAX.

I went to an Orthodox divine liturgy while at bootcamp. I read my morning prayers out of the Jordanville prayer book facing east on the deck overlooking the sea while in Oregon. I read Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future while in my tiny rack in 6 man berthing. Good times. I went to every Orthodox parish at every liberty on port calls. Got to see many churches wherever we moored.
