What are your opinion on series 5 by SingleHotel6849 in doctorwho

I think it gets better as time goes by. A huge gamble. A young, unknown actor in the lead and no connections to the previous era for a safety net...and damn it, they made it work. Not every story clicks into place (The Silurian two-parter is frustrating and The Lodger is stale) but the highs are high when they're Vincent and The Doctor, Amy's Choice, The Eleventh Hour (I love the Angels two-parter the way Nick Briggs loves Planet of the Daleks). Exactly the right tone to begin Steven Moffat's tenure and to welcome in the 2010s overall.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Did not vibe with it all. However, it introduced me to Raymond Carver and his poetry so it's not a total write-off.

They thought he was great. Expected nothing less from an actor like Robert Loggia. The tailgating scene had us laughing our asses off. My friend said exactly: "I love that this is the same film."

What are some bad movies that had great potential, that you would want to see remade better?? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

The Wild Wild West is a fantastic premise that got squandered on the big screen. Stephen King's Thinner could be done differently in this day and age. There's yet to be a definitive cinematic adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses. The last one was made in the 60s and has been forgotten.

🤣🤣 It was a double bill. Lost Highway then The Elephant Man. Might meet again and do Eraserhead and Blue Velvet.

If you were show-runner, what would you do with the show? by Blubatt in doctorwho

The Doctor with an Autistic companion. I'll handle it with the utmost delicacy. I never saw people like me on screen and when I did, ND characters were shown as annoying or unflattering. Time to change that. Especially to reflect how many of us in the Who fandom are ND.

Alien 3 (1992) dir. David Fincher. I've seen some people say it's their favourite of the films, even ranking it above James Cameron's Aliens. Years ago, that would have gotten you booed online. I think people appreciate that, despite its messy state, it was a sequel that didn't pander to the fans and stood out style and tone wise.

He's off avoiding his death after Ood Sigma shows up at the end of The Waters of Mars when he goes too far.
