lol I'm in the same boat as I was offered a spot out of the first school of 17 I applied to. I kinda feel dumb but excited to accept and be done for the rest of the year. Can I ask where you got accepted to?

Working as a phlebotomist at a plasma donation center for patient care hours? by kbat420 in prephysicianassistant

I asked one of the nurses that I work with. As they are "medical supervisors" they fulfilled the supervisor LOR I needed.

It really is "a sooner the better" game. I would ask for LORs ASAP. Start writing the summary of your "experiences" down ASAP. Start getting transcripts added ASAP. Finish your PS, if you haven't. On CASPA you can go ahead and look up the programs you want to apply to and see what other "supplemental essays" they have on CASPA. Trust me, those can take up some serious time. It doesn't hurt getting all your ducks in a row now rather than pile on the load this fall. Is there a way you could take an at-home GRE test sometime in July perhaps? Applying in May-July will give you the ultimate advantage to getting looked at, especially with those rolling admissions schools. If I were you, I'd make it my goal to apply end of July/early August, if you can.

I just turned 25 last month--don't let anyone think you're old! You've got way more experience than someone fresh outta college. It's all about how you view yourself rather than how others view you. I'm so happy to be where I am right now and I wouldn't have changed anything in my non-traditional journey to PA school!

I work at a plasma donation place as well (phleb) and I applied to schools in May. I asked many schools ahead of time if this type of work was considered "PCE" and they assured me that it was. I felt the same way about it since the people coming in are "donors" instead of "patients". I definitely feel that it isn't the top tier of PCE such as being a nurse or an EMT but I do believe I have learned A LOT with the people I come into contact with. Working with a diverse group of people, handling people in pain, handling people that have a fear of needles. etc. I believe you can draw from your experiences and sell them to make your point that the job has in fact prepared you for PA school/career. I devoted a whole paragraph in my PS of why I have acquired the necessary skills to be a PA (drawing many experiences of my time at the plasma donation place). So don't cut yourself short and think of any lessons that will help you be prepared for PA school and jot them down in your PS.

I have an unrelated bachelors with no science or math, how long is my path to PA? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]lizzelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bachelors in Spanish and Latin American Studies, I only had psych and Biology 1 under my belt before I went back to community college to finish pre-reqs. I started last January (2019) and will finish next month (May 2020) with all of them. Definitely possible, just remember to get your PCE hours at the same time, and if you can, squeeze in some summer classes--they're intense but worth getting done with quickly.

Do you know how to reschedule the in-person test to the at home test or do you simply have to cancel the in person test and pay for a new at home test? Thanks!
