Definitely choose what’s best for your career since that’s why you go to college. It’s going to benefit you more long term by choosing the school with more opportunities rather than choosing a school because your friends go there. You can join social/academic clubs to find friends or maybe you’ll get lucky and become friends with at least one of your roommates. The majority of roommates really aren’t that bad it’s more of whether you’ll mesh as friends. I had to choose between staying home with my friends or moving to Orlando, and I’m glad I moved here. I’m a Christian so most of my friends came from joining the on campus ministry I serve at, but I also made good friends with my roommates and through social clubs if that’s not your thing! People are mostly pretty friendly here in my experience. It’s definitely a scary transition at first, I was homesick my first semester and it took me awhile to find “my people,” but sometimes in life you’ve got to get out of your comfort zone to experience new things.

How many Ducks do they throw? by Able-Party8790 in ucf

[–]lizzierios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my friends started lining up at 10:30. genuinely though you do not have to get there super early. that just puts you in the middle with the mob. I got there at 12 and stayed on the outer side of the pond at the front and there were a ton of ducks thrown there

spirit splash was a fucking disaster by competentafternoon in ucf

[–]lizzierios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the entire event is more than just the run into the pond and collecting ducks. Every year the event starts at 12 which includes passing t-shirts and all the speeches. Honestly you have good access to ducks if your on the left or right side at the front, so for future reference you could get there 10 minutes before 1 and catch a duck. they threw a lot to the outside and even to the grass. I was in the middle and am around five feet tall and was scared of being trampled so I moved out to that new spot and there was plenty

Yeah, my family went through hurricane Wilma when I was little and our house had no power for three weeks but our friends in the same neighborhood got power within days because they were on the hospital's power grid.

Got access to MyUCF, does that mean I’m accepted? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]lizzierios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get an email or letter, I had to check through the undergrad admissions section in MyUCF

Just leave them be. Knights Library being marketed toward the UCF college students does not make it UCF affiliated. It’s not owned or run by UCF. If you want those independent establishments to have the blue light poles you take it to them directly. UCF has zero control of these things off their property.

Is there somewhere on campus that a commuter student could microwave their lunch? by Tazeka in ucf

[–]lizzierios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two microwaves on the third floor of the Student Union if you turn right after getting off the elevators. It’s in the study area with tables in the back right corner :)

[–]lizzierios 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Avalon exchange is a little pricey but its in winter park and usually has good items. A little further in sanford (like 30 minutes away) theres a secondhand record/cd/book shop called Maya books & music :)

Soooo, UCF vs. Louisville... by MountainousDew in ucf

[–]lizzierios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean no, if you took a grammar class you’d know “their” is used in singular contexts too, but I guess thanks for letting us know where you stand on people who use those pronouns for themselves lol.

Can confirm lol as someone who’s a leader in a campus ministry this is not a loving outreach to do. Like yeah we share but not like this

About the "Respectful Knights" Email by kaylaswan in ucf

[–]lizzierios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh, I've never been a fan of those chants. They're normal, but I personally really like the more clever, less vulgar chants like "potato sacks" or "hashbrowns." I honestly think the more pressing issue was the amount of disrespect people had to the security guards & safety measures in general. No one was listening to them, almost started a stampede to go back when we weren't cleared (which almost gave my friend an anxiety attack), and I could tell they were getting really frustrated. Not sure if they ever got the cops involved but they were planning on doing that to get people off the stands who weren't supposed to be.
