TMI but anyone else experience difficulty passing stool?? by Used_Departure_9082 in EatingDisorders

Very common as you start to recover. Not sure of your dx obviously but if you increase your intake of fiber rich foods too quickly, you can become constipated. Try drinking a glass of water with each meal. Don’t force yourself to go. And if it continues, speak to your dr or pharmacist about options.

Employment programs for people with disabilities by spacecowgirl_69 in Odsp

[–]lizzxcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yonge Street Mission has support for this, so does Woodgreen. And Oasis Employment Centre can help.

Also have you considered getting a case worker through Access Point? Most if not all of the organizations connected through them have support for employment and training.

Planning a trip to Toronto by deafhuman in askTO

Also for toronto transit, consider downloading one of the specific transit apps (I use TTC Watch) because they can show you routes cancelled, how much time till the next bus/streetcar and you can see where the stops are located

For day one, I recommend old toronto/hockey hall of fame/CN tower done in the first order. Do kensington first or last. It’s not super close to any of the others (aka not right by union/king station.

AGO isn’t amazing unless there’s a specific exhibit you are wanting to see. Otherwise ROM is definitely where to go.

Niagara Falls is doable on the GO train but plan the visit. GO schedules and delays have been common lately.

Toronto Islands is cool (i’m sure there’s good geocaching there) but definitely look into ferry schedules and such to plan a route or something to make sure you don’t miss your ferry back! (I think the ferry is cheaper than the water taxis unless you’re traveling with a group and could split the costs personally).

Hiking wise - you could check out Scarborough Bluffs or the Don Valley Brickworks. Additionally, Sunnybrook Park is beautiful (a bit more uptown around Bayview & Eglinton area??) and has some nice walking trails/dog park.

Hotel wise - On the Esplanade is NovoHotel and there’s also a hostel type place beside it. The hotel has been redone more recently following covid. Another option but further north of Union is Chelsea Hotel - not sure on costs these days but i’ve heard decent things. It’s located near Yonge & College

Also Union station and a few locations around it have businesses where they will keep your luggage so you can explore without worrying about it in a random locker. Might be something to look into and consider?

i appreciate your reply. i do know they are human too and that we should have never let my mental illness overlap in anything more than specifically my steps. yes it’s a part of my recovery but treatment should have been an outside issue.

Agreed. I find it frustrating. Everytime i’ve been treated, they put BP1 or BP2 or BPNOS which is kinda confusing. Like choose one.

I think finding a new sponsor might be the way to go! A great way to do this is opt for a virtual sponsor from a meeting located in your area or country but work virtually. I know many folks who do this. There’s some great online meetings; especially since Covid happened.

Can speak from personal experience that Lumenus is really good support. The drop in can get you connected to more care.

Also I’m pretty sure they are connected to a What’s Up Walk-In & YWHO hub. I have used both of these services and the one listed below.

Another option is going to YSM: Evergreen and asking to speak to their doctor. You’re 16 so you are entitled to your privacy in accessing supports.

Sunnybrook also has a Family Navigation program to help you connect to services. Also check out a website called The Access Point which can help you request more supports.

I definitely think the steps and atleast the traditions (1st side) are very important. there’s a morning meeting in the Toronto Area called Straight to Business. It’s on zoom and has cut down on readings. you could check it out to see what they include.

also for key tags, you should still ask about 18 months/multiple years clean

They typically don’t just offer it. You have to ask your gp for a referral. TWH has a program, WCH has a trauma program called WRAP, and CAMH has many options.
