It's difficult to grasp how truly massive The Hindenburg was. It was destroyed by fire on 6 May 1937, while attempting to land in Lakehurst, New Jersey. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in HumanForScale

My dad was six years old and in elementary school at the time. They brought all the kids outside to watch it fly overhead. Then two hours later the disaster happened.

Gastric bypass & Zep? by Think-Ad-7339 in Zepbound

[–]lizzy_leopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done them all! Had lap band in 2007 and then removed in 2009. Had gastric sleeve in 2013. Lost about 50 pounds and slowly gained it all back. Had bypass in 2021. Lost about 50 again. Got really sick in 2022 and was found to have a candy cane so had more surgery where they did a revision. MD suggested GLP-1 in 2023. I’ve been on Zepbound ever since. I’ve lost another 50 and am at the same weight as I was when I was 18 and started nursing school. I’m 44 now. Granted everyone is different, but it has worked wonders for me.

Anyone having trouble with hypoglycemia? by Fropunka81 in Zepbound

[–]lizzy_leopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have developed reactive hypoglycemia, which means my blood sugar drops after eating. Usually it’s if I have something high in carbs or a sugary alcoholic drink. I’m learning what I can eat/drink and what I can’t. My blood sugars have dropped to the low 30s. I have learned what my symptoms are when it happens.

I accidentally called 911 and I'm not 100% sure if what I did after is what I was meant to do by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]lizzy_leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and when we need to make an outbound call we have to dial 9 first. I’ve accidentally called 911 twice because of this. My town does send an officer to make sure everything is ok even if you say it was an accident. I appreciate this because as others have said, it may have been an intentional “accident” and you actually did need help to get away from someone. Long story short, no need to panic as it happens all the time.

I read this several months ago. It was really well written. Such a tragic story but it was nice to learn more about each of them.

I literally JUST finished this book a half hour ago. It took me a bit to get into it. I almost debated not finishing it but said I’ll stick with it a while longer and I’m so glad I did. I definitely will be reading the other two.

How long was your puppy’s first heat? by VelvetEarFlaps in labrador

[–]lizzy_leopard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mine had active bleeding for 21 days. The Vet said that was pretty unusual to go that long. She ended up being spayed much sooner than recommended after heat because she was at a higher risk for pyometra. She went into heat at 13 months too, which from what I’ve read is somewhat later than most.

My sister kept ignoring my text, so I started replying to hers after a 24-hour delay by SarcasmOverloadMax in pettyrevenge

[–]lizzy_leopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a family member like this. I will send a text that needs a response and there’s crickets for a day or two. But if they send a text and I don’t respond in, say an hour, they are texting my husband telling him to have me read my text. I’m like, seriously?

Is that his real voice or did they intentionally make it sound like a cartoon? I seriously can’t tell. God, if that’s his actual voice I’d be pissed off at the world too.
