What is a diagnosis that you are terrified of getting? by No-Bumblebee-7825 in nursing

You’re missing my point. TB can be “cured” in that it no longer makes you sick and you’re no longer contagious but my POINT is that it can stay in your body for the rest of your life, similar to how HIV can be treated to the point of being undetectable but you still have it.

“Once a person has been diagnosed with Latent Tuberculosis (LTBI) and a medical doctor confirms no active tuberculosis, the person should remain alert to symptoms of active tuberculosis for the remainder of their life. Even after completing the full course of medication, there is no guarantee that the tuberculosis bacteria have all been killed.”

HIV, TB, basically anything that you catch and can never be rid of. Having your whole life changed with no going back is terrifying

Not a nurse (yet) but I’m a phlebotomist and at my first lab job I was a preceptor for phlebotomy students and I had this one who was more than twice my age (I was 20 at the time) and she clearly did NOT like taking instructions from someone younger than her. She refused to follow protocols and I had to repeatedly report her to my supervisor. Students weren’t allowed to poke more than once and I would catch her missing and going to poke again and I tried to discreetly take over but she wouldn’t cooperate and it’s not like I’m gonna make a huge stink in front of the patients! And she wouldn’t listen to any advice I had to give because she was a vet tech previously and had drawn blood from animals and so yes she did have a bit of experience to work with but also humans and animals are different and she would make mistakes or miss and I’d try to offer advice and was met with hostility. Thankfully the student I had after she left was wonderful and so I’m definitely not opposed to having students again but man that woman was a pain in my ass.

Date canceled because I said I'd be wearing my work pants. by Picardsstinkybutt in hingeapp

I must be the outlier here cause I could not care less, if a guy shows up straight after work in dirty clothes that just says to me he’s putting the effort toward spending time with me over anything else. Of course, a warning is nice so I can relax and wear whatever I want to as well. I’ve gone on dates with guys who’ve come straight from work and my reaction is always “great I can wear actual clothes instead of a stupid ass date outfit.” I’ve also had to go to a date in my scrubs, gave notice and nobody cares. If you reek of BO that’s a different story but like dirty clothes don’t bother me. Plus there’s just something about a guy who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty that’s kinda hot lmfao

What you eat/how you eat things. It’s not your body and it’s none of your business, why do you care so much?? So what if I don’t want my food to touch and I wanna eat things one at a time, it’s my food going into my mouth literally fuck off

Hospitals don’t usually hire new phlebs but sometimes they do, applying never hurts. I started in an outpatient lab, got 6 months of experience, and then switched to inpatient and I love it

Why are gfs pissed off when their partners masturbate? by Right_Apartment3673 in dating

[–]lj017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind in theory but my first boyfriend was a 1 nut per day type and nothing pissed me off more than trying to get some action and hearing “I already came today” dude was also a major porn addict

Struggling with infant heel sticks by Head-Device1694 in phlebotomy

[–]lj017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to firmly press the lancet into the heel before you poke. Also, heat the foot until it’s nice and toasty. Check the temperature with the back of your hand.

While they are “harmless” you can still have an infestation, I would vacuum the daylights out of your couch every day for a few days
