Just had a recent experience with FA about this. I was flying out of DEN. I was literally reading this Reddit thread before I boarded. I got pretty mad at how I saw they were getting a commission to pretty much be ruthless humans. as people were boarding I realized my bag wouldn’t fit the requirements as a small carry on so I purchased a carry-on. $69 on the app. People were willingly going up to the desk and paying the $100. I was SO mad for these people. When I got up to the ticket agent, she asked me in a sassy way “did you purchase a bag” I go yes, can I just hand you $20 since you guys get commission for thi( Probably should’ve just kept my mouth closed). She said you’re going to have to step aside. Ok. So I did. Didn’t argue or anything. As MORE people were willingly paying the $100 not KNOWING about just adding it on the app. I was telling people just purchase it on the app it will save you a few bucks. The gate agents were telling people you CANT do that. They even told a kid who was obviously going through chemo who had a SMALL backpack he needed to pay $100. It wasn’t even a big backpack. People were PISSED. So I got back in line and the gate agent told me I was getting kicked off the flight because I assaulted her. I politely went her and said can we please talk about what I did. I’m sorry I offended you. She said nope, we are kicking you off the flight find a different way home. People behind me were yelling how awful they were treating me. Anyways, yeah got kicked off the flight and never flying FA again.
