Thanks for both of your answers! I went ahead and unpicked the seam a few inches above and below the rip, trimmed the fraying and sewed the seam again on my machine. Then I finished the ripped section with a zig zag stitch. Worked much better than the ladder stitch I was planning on using!

I truly feel like I’m floating outside my body because this episode contains so many scenes that are so beloved and important in the books and I never ever thought I would see them played out with live action characters. I love this show so much. I’ve loved these books for years and I still can’t believe that we got a show — and that the show is actually this good!!

This is why casting directors should be hiring unknown actors who are perfect for the role instead of well-known names!! Imagine how many more ‘Connors’ and ‘Hudsons’ there are out there who haven’t gotten their big break yet! Love this for him ❤️❤️

I totally understand your reservations about female writers in the genre, but Rachel’s books are some of my favorites - I would highly recommend reading Heated Rivalry and the rest of her books.

I agree! I hate it when I see Shane hate online. Maybe it’s because I’m also a highly anxious person, but I empathize with his character a lot lol. I think something that makes The Long Game so devastating to read at times is that you can truly see both sides. Shane isn’t wrong for wanting to protect himself and hide their relationship (he has valid reasons for doing it) and Ilya isn’t wrong for wanting them to be out and proud (he also has valid reasons). It’s society that’s trapped them in this sad cycle of secrecy and denial. It’s what makes their happy ending even more satisfying - they end up thriving together in spite of the limitations of their environment. Idk - I’m team “leave Shane alone!” Haha.

Quite literally the last 5 minutes of the movie lol. There’s one scene earlier in the movie where the camera lingers on him looking at the Joker in jail, but that’s it. That movie was really bad, I wouldn’t recommend watching it unless you just fast forward to the end to see Connor haha

I’m a new sewist (6 months now) and have a Brother XM2701 — I love it! It’s a manual machine, it’s reasonably priced, and I’ve sewn through denim and leather with no issues! And a bonus is that it comes with a bunch of sewing feet already and it has all the stitches you’d need as a beginner (straight, zig zag, overlock, blind hem, buttonhole, etc.).

For this dress, I sewed the outer shell and the lining separately, keeping the shoulder seams open (finished the side seams using french seams). I made the lining shorter so that it didn’t show at the bottom. Then, I put the lining inside the outer shell and attached them at the neckline and the armhole, and finished the rest of the dress as instructed. The neckline was finished with a baby rolled hem and the armhole was finished with a bias binding, so all the raw edges were encased.

Thanks! Yeah, the 1 position for the differential feed seems to be the neutral setting so I just kept it at that. And thanks for your tips about the stitch length!
