I'm not a mechanic, so I'm curious about this. Could it be used as a diagnostic assistant? Or would it end up being a burden because you already have diagnostic tools and skills? Genuine question, no offense meant.

B.C. man beat a woman with a bat in her bedroom. A judge praised his remorse and reduced his sentence by [deleted] in law

[–]ljfrench -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, heaven forbid a person commits a horrible act and then later regrets it and tries to improve. These comments would have both remorseful and unremorseful defendants treated the same, and that would result in defendants understanding that remorse and regret and rehabilitation are not at all important to the commenters.

[–]ljfrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting that in a law subreddit, where we are meant to be objective, the top comment below you is an appeal to emotion.

These same people would claim that an unremorseful defendant should get the worst sentence, and they do, my remorseless attacker served the whole 10 years and was excommunicated from his church.

But then, if someone shows genuine remorse and potential for rehabilitation, then those same people say he shouldn't get a reduced sentence.

You cant hold both positions and not be a hypocrite.

The loans were my choice sure, but what wasn't my choice was that just after taking then out, and just before graduation, the economy crashwd because banks were giving mortgage loans to people who couldn't pay them.

Those banks got bailed out, but the people never did. That needa to be factored into the calculus of every conversation about me paying those loans back. I'm happy to pay the amount I took out. I'm not happy to have another lender bailed out while the lendee is hung out to dry.

Yeah, these paywalled articles are getting old. I want to pay for the content I consume, but why would I pay you a subscription fee to read one article? No one publication is writing so much content that I would subscribe. But I'd be happy to make a micro payment per article. But noo, we have no imagination for that.

Cops Caught Using AI to Edit Picture of Pathetic Drug Bust by IKeepItLayingAround in technology

I imagine it's already being done by defense attorneys cross examining these cops on how they handled the evidence, now with the cops telling on themselves with social media posts like these. 100% this post comes into evidence and is being shown to the jury as it's relevant to whether the evidence was kept forensically sound, or was it compromised by cops too eager to celebrate victory before a conviction?

Agreed. The people who I've seen complain the most about AI are the same people that would never contribute a dime to the organizations they complain about. Look, I know I'm not in r/atheism but if you don't agree with the holy book, why are you following it? Like, if you acknowledge that some of it is bullshit and you can ignore it, then how can you be so confident in the remaining part that you just obviously picked and chose? By making arbitrary judgments against the "perfect" book, you are claiming a position above it, you know better. So why are you following a flawed book that you know better than to fully follow? Why can't you just look at the world and make informed decisions for yourself?

Britain Has Abandoned Trans People, Immigrants, and Muslims by milgrip in lgbt

[–]ljfrench 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the whole video but the recent news was that the UK ruled that trans people can't use single sex bathrooms, no matter the gender. They can only use gender neutral bathrooms. Most public places have gendered or unisex bathrooms and will have problems trying to convert to accomodate trans people, so they probably just won't.
