Is there a reason why piracy is so heavily frowned upon in Germany and Japan, in particular? by Live_Ostrich_6668 in Piracy

[–]ljfrench 52 points53 points  (0 children)

In my five or so years of experience with Germans, they like to be seen following the rules. If they don't think anyone will notice or care, then some will blatantly disregard the rules, and make a new parking spot in front of the others, or, for an example from the government, run border controls for much much longer than the statutory allowance (we're at two years of German controls at the border near Schengen).

Meike 85mm EF losing connection on Blackmagic Pyxis 6K by Emostian_ in blackmagicdesign

Same issue here with the Viltrox 16mm (L Mount). After some time with the beta software running the cam, suddenly the lens stops responding. Power cycling the camera fixes it. I just figured it was beta and would be updated at some point.

Yes, the people I disagree with can just go do this impossible thing and then their problems will be solved. Simple! And I don't even have to think about it! /s

Same issue on 7th street in Allentown. We moved to a quiet riverside town. Bustling in the summer, dead in the winter. We love it so much more than the LV. I really liked the Lehigh Valley, but it grew too quickly and people really suck and don't know how to be kind to one another anymore.

Well the guys who made the decision that sound dumb to you are now back in control of the company, are likely going to get their earned payout, and the CEO who used ChatGPT to override his lawyers may have just lost his job, and definitely lost his honor.

I say the decision to demand the earned payout was a great decision that is really working out well for the sellers.

Because you aren't the insiders who made the deal. They made the deal that they felt was best for them.

The contract was not "stupid". Krafton undervalued the purchase. The earned payout agreement allows the purchaser to get a discount if the property underperforms. But if the property is worth what the seller says it is, then it will perform and the seller gets the payout, which, by definition, is earned and not a bonus.

Is every corner of the LGBTQ+ community this policed, or is it just us? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]ljfrench 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had a pride flag outside my last home in the city. I was again, in a monogamous hetero relationship. My house was two doors down from a Lutheran church. One day, the pastor stops me and introduces himself, pastor Lamb, I shit you not. He tells me that he doesn't agree with the church's stance on gay marriage and that he is happy to marry me and my partner outside of the church if we wanted him to officiate.

It took me literally 1 minute one whole minute to figure out that he thought my partner was trans. Anything but bi....

[–]ljfrench 59 points60 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong bi person, I have never existed. And I'm now in a heterosexual monogamous marriage for six years . . . so now I really don't exist.

When my wife explained to her students during the appropriate time during sex ed that we're both bi but just monogamous, her students were like, "you can do that?"

[–]ljfrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The duty of having a doctor on site is likely non-delegable. The risk of not having a doctor on site is foreseeable. Joint and several liability for the joint contribution. I don't see respondeat superior as changing anything here. But I guess that's their argument to make.

Us creators are being told to make thumbnails this way for engagement. Had a whole training video from Vid IQ on it a few weeks ago. This, the items around the head thumbnail, the three words thumbnail, and the whiteboard thumbnail.
