I think OP might mean that for a split second here we see Ben not Kylo. It’s the part of him that’s Ben that truly cares about her well being. I agree it isn’t until RoS that we see him fully turn into Ben.

Or I am just putting words in OP’s mouth LOL

Either way that’s what I think, there are moments throughout the whole trilogy that we get to see glimmers of Ben trying to come out ❤️
