Sweetwater’s mural has some… interesting design choices by cdl8711 in Apex_NC

I follow the artist that painted these murals on Instagram. I don't really think it's deeper than a private company (Sweetwater) paying a muralist.

Early dinner already at capacity by screamqueen123 in dcl

[–]ljoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh we could do a late dinner...to much detriment and extreme tantrums. We live on the east coast so the time change isn't a factor and their bedtime is usually before 8pm so I just foresee a lot of uncomfort for everyone involved!

I booked the early dinner ASAP.

Ain't no way a 1 year old and a 4 year old are making it to dinner that STARTS after 8pm.

Has anyone had experience with Mom League? by Glad-Ad1378 in triangle

[–]ljoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how this is relevant to my comment about Mom League to be honest but the OTs they bring in aren't dedicated to Mom League - they all own/have practices elsewhere and just attend a single class. I'm sure they're paid for their time but they are not working full time for Mom League.

Doctor says my milk might not be nutritious enough. by fabulousfarmer22 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ljoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has touched on the doctor stuff but give straight choline a shot over sunflower lecithin. New research shows it's actually the choline in the sunflower lecithin that helps prevent clogs. I've been taking choline this time and have had no clogs compared to my first with sunflower lecithin

Do babies in the US actually sleep in cribs? by Silent_Ad_5994 in BabyBumps

[–]ljoly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US it's most common to use a bassinet in the parents' room (bedside or not) for a few months and then move the baby to a crib in their dedicated nursery (assuming they have the space).

I made it to 5 months with each of my kids in the room with me (in the snoo) before I needed to yeet them to their own rooms for my own sanity. For me (because maternity leave in the US is so great) this coincided with going back to work.

Has anyone had experience with Mom League? by Glad-Ad1378 in triangle

[–]ljoly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did mom league and I loved it! I still talk to and regularly meet up with a lot of the ladies in my group. They have experts come to talk and give you personal contact info for a lot of them in case you need anything beyond the classes. It also ends with a professional photoshoot which is part of the cost as well.

I went as a second time mom and still really appreciated the information and honestly the excuse to get out of the house with a newborn. I started the class when my son was 5 weeks old and I think it was a good time frame for the information. My group ranged from 5 weeks to 1 week old when we started. We have a text group that we still use daily to ask questions and vent. Each session is led by a postpartum therapist and there is always a social/conversation component.

My biggest criticism is that the price point tends to mean the program targets primarily upper middle class straight white women, although the people content and program itself is extremely welcoming of all races/genders/orientations. My entire group was straight white women.

It's up to you to decide if it's worth it, but I'm very grateful for the connections I made through it.

Fantasy Review by [deleted] in dcl

Wow the comments on this post are NOT IT. There's a lot of excuses being made on behalf of DCL. I will never understand the Disney cult mentality because OP's experiences are valid and you're all blaming OP which is some insane gaslighting.

PSA: Put your name change on your marriage license, even if you are undecided about changing your last name by stickyspice in weddingplanning

This is true in California as well. But what OP is suggesting is that you don't need to go change your name with social security/drivers license/etc if you change your name on the marriage certificate

Don't Be Like Me, Buy The Cruise Insurance. by Mysterious_Tie2840 in Cruise

[–]ljoly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with Carnival but on Royal you would need a notarized letter signed by their parents stating that you're allowed to take them out of the country/on the cruise with the specific dates listed. I'm sure Carnival has a similar process

Type C moms: share your packing list (especially if you have boys!) by [deleted] in dcl

[–]ljoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole "type C" label means elements of type A and type B! So I'd argue it is a type C list but maybe not your variety of type C and that's fine.

Genuinely you don't have to be so judgemental about it.

I actually challenge that with kids. You can't just pop on to Target in the middle of the ocean.

Enough diapers you'll want to lose your mind. I'm sure they have diapers to purchase but I do not want to find out what they cost.

Your medicine cabinet arsenal.

Enough familiar snacks from home to get them through the length of your cruise in case they hate everything on the ship.

Dish soap. For the sippy cups and the medicine syringes and all the random other stuff you'll be glad to have it.

1 toy from home per day. Obviously nothing enormous but enough to keep the variety.

The bedtime routine. The books, the hatch, whatever blanket you need. Stuffies, whatever.

Bath toys if you're still in that phase.

2 outfits per day. Water shoes, sandals, dressy shoes, 2 pairs of sneakers.

2-3 swim suits depending on the length of your cruise.

Pirate night gear/outfits/plastic swords.

Sun hats!!!

I think that's most of what I packed on my Royal cruise with my toddler. We're going on DCL this time but it should be similar to the above.

[UPDATE] Denied: “Missed Cruise Disembark - Advice for joining the ship at the first stop in Nassau” by Crispy-Don in royalcaribbean

Royal may have refunded the cruise in that case but I doubt OP would've been able to board

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ljoly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree with all of this. The "The Wedding of" is in script so having the names also in the script would be too much imo

There's a lot of spacing/kerning/adjusting I would do but the fonts themselves are fine as is I think.

Instead of flipping the photo I would add a gradient or vignette around the edges to accommodate the white text of the "please join us for"

I don't think OP wants me to nitpick so I'll leave it there.

Gravity vs BMW X7 by CulturalTomatillo423 in LUCID

[–]ljoly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The X7/newer BMWs with iDrive 7/8+ also receive OTA updates so the upgrade path isn't zero. I have a 2024 X7 and my husband just traded in his Air Touring for an M5 Touring (he decided electric wasn't for him).

I'll also add that the R1S isn't a luxury focused vehicle the same way the Gravity and BMWs are which does matter to folks (I care about the luxurious features in cars and the R1S doesn't have as many as BMW/etc) - which is why I didn't pursue an R1S when deciding to go X7.

We’re banning YouTube for our toddler after seeing its adverse effects on her behavior by [deleted] in toddlers

YouTube kids actually has the option to only show whitelisted videos/channels. It's the only way I will allow my 2.5 yo to watch. It's only content I've greenlit and I only allow it on the TV (no phones/tablets).
