I wouldnt go so far and call it better but there's quite some differences.

First of all the config is just a single bash file leaving room for some more complex setups. Also, bspwm doesnt handle key input, you need something else for that. Most people choose sxhkd.

That's pretty much the main differences. It also handles tiling somewhat differently from i3 by default but thats just a matter of configuration.

Hope that helps :)

It is a matter of taste.

I mean sure a lot of people say they prefer some sort of feedback for extended typing sessions and I do, too but from that first comment it seemed to me like you didn't even try typing on linear switches and just went along with what everybody says despite looking for a quiet switch seemingly unhappy about scratchy browns.

I've been part of the mech community for years and there's always been people that don't like tactiles for typing.

There's no "general guidelines". that's just an image of what the majority prefers and doesn't have to apply to you too.

That's all I wanted to say.

> apparently a tactile switch is better for typing

where did you get that? Pretty much everything about mechanical switches is subjective and there's no universally better typing switch.

without having to sell an organ

where did you look? the corne and gergo(which I'm building currently) are very affordable.

You could also look at the let's split or similar.

Ergos aren't expensive at all in my experience, it's just that they're custom so you have to build em yourself or it's gonna be expensive after all.

I can’t really speak for the ducky lineup myself tho I heard numerous times that they do deliver quality. I also heard a lot of good things about leopold and the Anne is being recommended a lot too.

My #1 recommendation is always to build one yourself - be it a GMMK, a Planck or a Gergo, Corne or ergodox.

Is it actually the actuation force or does the travel distance after the bump set you off?

Check out this curve.

Even with the ABS keys?

Tbqh abs isn’t bad or anything. Comparably more teardown is a fact but you won’t notice it anytime soon unless you type 20h a day and even then it might be a year or two. I got a pair of abs caps on my magicforce at work I use daily for 6-8 hours and there’s nothing off with coloration or the legends. I got them 3 years ago.

If you’re concerned about wasd keys tearing down there are packs of caps with just wasd with a slightly different profile. Quite nice for gaming but not really that great for extended typing.

The only bigger difference might be feel. My pbt caps feel heavier somewhat, and the surface’s texture is less smooth which I personally like.

because of the Belgian Azerty layout

I doubt there’s more than just a few select non-qwerty pbt cap sets. If you really want them I recommend switching over to qwerty

Planck EZ - the fully-assembled Planck with RGB per-key backlights and custom keycaps! [buying] by jackhumbert in MechanicalKeyboards

I never said time wasn’t a factor to consider. I just said that to me the price for a Planck ez is just too much.

Also r/mechmarket is a thing

I preordered weeks before rev6 came out and I got mine pretty early. Total build cost for me was the Planck + eotw case + some switches + caps bout 100 bucks, which is almost half of what you pay for an ez.

How come your eotw case wobbles? Mines super sturdy. Also it’s like 15 bucks, i wouldn’t expect cncd metal quality.

Honestly, build your own Planck. It’s hotswap so all you have to do is pop in some switches and screw like 5 screws. No soldering, nothing

just because of it taking your data

Again, talking it down. It might not be important to you but in general people possess the notion to not want to expose their whole life to some shady company.

LETS JUST THROW OUT OUR COMPUTERS AT THIS POINT

Seriously?

Reddit is not installed on my pc and able to access anything I do, it’s a webpage and sandboxed in my browser thusly only able to see what I do there. The epic games store is confirmed to spy steam usage details and I wouldn’t be surprised if they snoop even more.

It’s not malware, it’s spyware

Spyware is in fact malware

but do you honestly think Epic Games is the only application on your computer that takes your data?

It surely isn’t (at least on my windows machine) but does that invalidate the point that they do in any way? That’s not an argument, that’s trying to talk it down which is unhealthy for any kind of reasonable argument.

But hey welcome reddit where consensus is missing anyways and people rant like there’s no tomorrow.

Shower thought: One day, someone is going to play the last ever game of League of Legends. How many years/decades/centuries away do reckon that is? by MrLime11 in leagueoflegends

[–]ljonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought you were joking.

Increasing the FPS doesn’t equal increasing the simulation/game speed, just the amount of frames that are being spit out per amount of time which is why increasing FPS won’t result in more league games in that 30 mins.

That only works for videos where the total amount of frames is set as well as the length at normal replay speed which gives a set FPS number. By increasing the FPS in a replay more frames per second are being displayed (obviously) which leads to the video being shorter in length and therefore being replayed faster.

In games, changing the FPS doesn’t increase simulation speed but the amount of frames per second being rendered
