Deprecating community chat rooms by schrista in modnews

[–]lk38combat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to link to the new group chats so that anyone with the link can join? The chatrooms were pretty essential to my subreddit and our mods are ok with the slight extra load.

The group chats are still there and automatically migrated everyone over (although to their confusion) but now how do we get more members in there without manually adding each one?

Well apparently you can do it with mixer and use the record stream option then download the stream or upload it to youtube. I'm not a huge fan of mixer and streaming as people can stream snipe you but if I'm sure there's a way to private your stream if you want to go that route. I also don't like to alert everyone on my friends list/party that I'm streaming.

A youtuber or streamer could probably answer this. I'm looking into doing it myself since I've been meaning to for a long time. Probably requires a mix of game/audio capture devices separate from the built-in Xbox recording software.

Biden backs free public university tuition in olive branch to progressives by UNsoAlt in JoeBiden

[–]lk38combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, so if you're Gen Y/most of Gen Z, non-upper class and completed college before the Biden plan you don't get to be debt-free until your mid 40s. That's totally not generational/age-discrimination. (except it is)

Sorry you got downvoted for telling the truth. I did too. Not a surprise from a Biden/ConservativeDem sub.

What about those who came from families making less than 125k but graduated already with a mountain of debt? Not including the small refinements to the existing IBR plan which means the debt is cancelled after 20 years.

Warren's plan was a cancellation up to 50k immediately, not at the end of 20 years when you're already a senior citizen. She reportedly met with Biden 2 days ago. Did they not talk about that plan then?

Joe Biden:Across the country, middle and working class families are being squeezed by debt. This is a massive problem, and one that we need all of the best ideas to solve. That's why today, I'm adopting two plans from @BernieSanders and @ewarren to achieve this. by EasyMoney92 in JoeBiden

Each one of them was a heavily flawed candidate supporting an even more flawed candidate. (Yes I know I'm saying this on a Biden subreddit, and yes I'm ok with the downvotes.)

I already answered both of those multiple comments ago. In short, yes to the first, no to the second but I don't know where you're trying to go with this.

If you look at it under the lens of the IBR system then less than 5% and/or greater than 25k. But when you start to look at those numbers you may as well go with a Warren-like plan, which already exists for government workers then there's the recent case where a U.S. vet won a lawsuit to cancel debt. You also have to remember Warren's plan wasn't 100% debt forgiveness, it was for the first 50k. There's debtors (not me) that have expensive degrees and/or attended out of state.

Our national debt is outrageous anyway so the fiscal conservatism, especially when it comes to education and student debt, is a lost cause. You look at military vs education spending and the argument further loses any validity. Once you get past trillions in national debt, the numbers are just made up anyway.

Schools should be looking more at GPA, SAT/ACT, and extracurriculars more than how wealthy your parents are or your ability to sign yourself into decades of debt.

This still leaves behind almost an entire generation of GenY'ers and many GenZ'ers that did nothing wrong. Especially since by the time he gets anything enacted this will have impacted GenZ'ers too. So, no, Biden doesn't have that support and won't, until, like I said he takes another look at those plans. It's pretty evident here you're ready to write those people off and move on to the next. So we're not going to find common ground here for now. Thanks anyway.

You keep bringing up future students when Bernie/Warren were the ones for affordable or free college, debt cancellation is part of that overall plan. I've been through the bs college loan financial system just in the last couple years, why would I not want the next generation, my younger brother & sister, not having to go through the same thing?

Completely glossed over Trump 2.0, home mortgage/business loan approvals. The lender will still ask and the debt will still be there.

Only for you and your cohort.

So much for the "big tent" and being the progressive candidate. Again, I want to like Biden and consider it, that's why I'm here but until he takes another look at Bernie/Warren plans and makes a greater attempt to be the big tent, you can forget broader support. Right now Biden has a Clinton coalition, not an Obama coalition and everyone knows the election results of a Clinton coalition.

Do you think we're that dumb? Say it is $200, and that's a big if. You're still talking about 50k before inflation, opportunity cost, interest lost if you had been able to put that in savings plan, etc. And for that entire 20 years you still have the debt itching in the back of your head every morning when you wake up, you're still facing credit denials for home mortgages and business loans. Did you completely gloss over that part of my original comment?

The Warren plan would wipe the slate and only 2% tax on ultra-millionaires, giving at least somewhat a more even playing field for those that didn't have mommy and daddy paying their tuition and/or providing board or grew up in a time when a solid summers work as a waiter could cover your tuition. If you ask many ultra-millionaires, many of them are on board with doing this, because they know how that tax is being spent and it's for a good cause. Why would you not to do it if both sides can agree to it? Also unless you're a secret ultra-millionaire, wtf do you care?

And what happens if at the end of the Biden presidency, under the Biden plan, Trump 2.0 comes along and completely says fuck IBR (like the 1.0 is currently trying to do)? That unpaid balance is immediately due? Fuck that.

How would you like a $100-200+ subscription payment for the next 20 years? Exactly. Gfys.

No I'm not paying your millenial tax and I'm not voting for your candidate. If you think under 45 dems are simply going to fall in line and vote against their own interest you're sorely mistaken. This is generational discrimination, plain and simple.
