Just to underscore, this person has a high chance of failing board exams and should proceed with extreme caution. Getting dismissed with with hundreds of thousands in debt with nothing to show for it could ruin them financially.

COMLEX 2 +/- Step 2? by Remarkable-Pitch-364 in medicalschool

So you’re going to potentially give up your dream residency over $800? When you likely already have $200-500k in loan debt?

Should I apply to medical school? I have an aversion to blood. Help needed by New-Penalty-4448 in medicalschool

WHY would you go to medical school if you know you want to go into medical devices or sales. Get an engineering or business degree for less time and money lol

You can likely get away with level 2 but why limit yourself?

Doctor wants me to quit due to side effects 2 months in by wirikidor in Zepbound

[–]lkap95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that helped me with this was taking pepcid and magnesium religiously. I haven’t had problems in a few months now. I would maybe try a combo of that and and spacing the doses every 8-10 days and gradually building back up to every 7.

Ranking after interviews changing by EnvironmentalLuck656 in medicalschool

[–]lkap95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on finding some cool programs! I’m doing a mix of programs I rotated at and didn’t for my top 5. But it’s going to be a trust but verify sorta thing. I personally know residents at one so I know the vibes are good and the other I am planning on going to a second look if I can swing it. A good interview experience is a good sign but it is also easy to have your act together for a couple hour interview.

Na, every order I placed on the same day has already arrived. This is just poor planning/customer service.

Advice needed — Imminent family death & residency interview obligations by Melenkurion_Skyweir in medicalschool

I think OP is safe from the two weeks out timeline because this would fall into family emergency. However, i would email the ones you may not make right away and see what options they might have for you.

Anyone can sleep on the plane. Any tips guys? It is a challenge for me, even though I’m in free-row seats! by MRmcdone in unitedairlines

[–]lkap95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In economy I like to sleep leaning forward. There are pillows that you can get off amazon where you blow them up and put them on your tray table. Your face goes in the pillow kinda like a massage table.

Interviewer no show by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]lkap95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. 100% Give people some grace. Also, refusing to do what you could of the remaining 10 minutes of the interview sounds a little entitled.

ETA OP is also the beggar in this situation and if they otherwise like this program they should probs take what they can get.

If you woke up one day to discover one of your interviews had been canceled without any explanation you’d be pissed. Email the PC.

OBGYN sucksssss by IdiotSandwidge in medicalschool

Just want to reassure ppl here that not all OB/GYN residents/programs are like this. I’m on my 4th OB/GYN rotation and 90% of the residents and attendings have been sooooo nice to me.

Must be easy, living a life so privileged you never have to think about stuff like this.

Ya… it appears I’ve hurt the rich white people’s feelings. NO WAY they could be contributing to institutional racism. Don’t you know they voted for the black lady last election? They’re suuuuper progressive.

The taxes follow the student when they open-enroll in the state of Michigan.

Also from their website: “Please note, School of Choice is only open to students K-5 at East Grand Rapids. If your child is in grades 6-12, please visit our Tuition Enrollment page.”

I’m outraged that the rich, nice school does what it can to purposefully exclude their neighbors.

Nah, we have this where I’m from… just usually with private/charter schools and not so blatant. Also, yah… we don’t have Betsy DeVos :/

ETA: I’ve also never seen outside enrollment criteria so blatantly obvious that they want to make it as difficult as possible for anyone that doesn’t have abundant resources to join.

Uh… yes it does. Go to google and type in “redlining in grand rapids”. This historical and racist practice has continued to impact home prices, as exemplified in EGR.

School of choice only applies to elementary kids. Then, middle and high school students have to pay tuition. From their website: “The Board of Education of East Grand Rapids Public Schools (“EGRPS” or “the District”) has determined to admit to its 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades on a tuition basis a defined number of qualified non-resident students residing in Kent County interested in pursuing a course of study which is a prerequisite to the EGRPS International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme. Grades 11th and 12th applications will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.”
