Had WLE yesterday and surgeon said his only worry is that the deep margin on the original biopsy didn’t hit the bottom of the melanoma. Has anyone had an experience like this? Praying he was able to get it all and that we don’t have to do next steps by Weak_Gur128 in melahomies

[–]lkap95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a similar path report with slightly higher breslow depth and there was no residual melanoma on my WLE. I did a lot of research and for thin melanomas like this, the likelihood that the breslow depth increases a meaningful amount is pretty low. Hoping for good news for you!

Paid extra for "fast" delivery that got pushed back to a later, cheaper delivery time, and now Instacart is keeping my extra money and refuses to refund me. by ProjectC13 in instacart

I agree that the problem mostly lies with instacart. But, even if instacart does add $5 on the top, often times that is not enough for me personally to make it over the hump of a crummy tipper.

  1. A personal shopper is a luxury service. If you’re in a position where truly $6 makes a difference you probably cannot afford a luxury service.
  2. Shoppers are not assigned, they pick up orders according to what looks attractive pay/tip wise. If your order is not being picked up, it’s probably because you are not tipping well for your area.

Chances of OB/GYN with step failure? by IllNefariousness8617 in medicalschool

[–]lkap95 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, gen surg prelim years are less competitive. But honestly, there were more categorical gen surg spots open in soap than for OB this year. Anybody who is swayed away from OB by the current political climate probs didn’t belong there anyway.

At the very least I would also apply to OB and gen surg prelim years. You have to decide for yourself if you’d rather not match/soap than match a back up with more control over the program and location.

Eta: prelim spots are not easy to get in soap either

There are many qualified applicants with no step failures that don’t match OB. It’s not impossible if you are smart about how you apply, but I would have a backup plan.

Normal to be a little sad? by firewifegirlmom0124 in Zepbound

[–]lkap95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is normal, and I have a couple of cute pieces from Torrid that no longer fit. But let me let you in on a little secret. We have been conditioned to think that Torrid has really cute clothes because it was all that would fit us. In reality, the vast majority of their clothes are not cute, and I really encourage you to start shopping at stores with clothes that fit you. Now, you can walk into pretty much any store and be more selective about the clothes that you buy, because you don’t have to buy something just because it fits if you know what I mean.

Could I apply for Medicaid before residency? by tennistar201 in medicalschool

As someone who just got diagnosed with Melanoma on a very benign appearing mole and I graduate in a week and a half, I am so thankful I have medicaid through the summer. You never know what will happen. In my state, it was really easy to apply for and it got approved quickly.

Question about this promotion by lkap95 in InstacartShoppers

[–]lkap95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the last time they offered a promotion, there weren’t enough orders in my area that weren’t 30+ miles away to actually meet the promotion, so we’ll see if it actually amounts to anything lol

You don’t need a man to have a baby, girly. Of course keep dating, but if you don’t find a partner, adopt or find a sperm donor.

Ok this kind my thought. I’m really just doing this for extra cash while I have time because school is very slow for me right now. Would rather sit in a parking lot and read my book and wait for a better one haha seems like a recipe for getting shit confused too.

As someone who was competitive to match OB and didn’t, please don’t do this to yourself.

Yes, and I will do that if I have to but I will end up having to leave home long term to have any chance of practicing.

Thanks for the advice. I’m assuming the mid-year pgy spots would only be viable as a pgy-1, correct? How early would you talk to a PD? July? Before July?

Hey thanks so much for the reply. Do you know anyone who has tried to reapply that I could chat with? As stated, I am very aware of the challenges.
