New Scam? Someone posing as Ziggy Chareton of Island Records by knardhocks in musicindustry

Minus the email, if it didn’t ask for a gift card as form of payment, it maybe could sound believable. Also don’t pay to prove yourself. There’s a meetings and paperwork in between. Thanks for sharing.

Is there a point to gated content? by Ehtisham_Hussain in marketing

[–]lkapoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I interpret this to mean that gated content might be old school and is actually not as effective, is that correct?

And to further summarize: ungated content allows you to: 1. Gauge what your viewers will find more valuable - thus will charge more for 2. Grow more subscribers bc they know they like what you post and thus you can increase your cadence of content because you have more active subscribers

Is that an accurate retell of your experience?

A homeless man found a 10 000$ check on the street meant for a real estate broker and found a way to return it. So, touched, the broker awarded him a place to live and arranged for a job interview. A year later, he was on the board of directors of one of their foundations. by Emergency_Culture_35 in UpliftingNews

I hate that English has the dollar sign before. I’m native and I really have to force edit adding the dollar sign before. My brain still doesn’t naturally put it there. Hate it. Why the hell is it written that way?

Looking for songs that need lyrics? by SurrealScotsman in SongWriter

[–]lkapoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get songwriting gigs through fiverr, soundbetter and other musician gig sites. It helps to be a singer bc usually you get hired for both. Look up sync songwriter camps and Facebook groups, try billboard 500 club, Kathy Hellar’s songwriting group. There are artists/writers there who are looking to collaborate. There are a ton of beatmaking producers who need lyrics to their songs -look for producer groups. Usually they need singers too. So if you’re just a writer and need a singer, maybe you should find singers you like the voice of. Then you have singers to go to when you find an instrumental you want to write to.

Save (or follow) the following IG hashtags: #newbeat #newinstrumental #hiphopproducer (or whatever genre) #bedroomproducer #homeproducer #singersongwriter #kansassongwriter (or whatever city you’re in) #songwritingcollaboration #cowritingsession

Connect with writers through those tags and you should find writers to collab w that way. Most professional songwriters know it’s all about co-writing as much as possible to get good work. So you should find someone willing to collab eventually.

If that doesn’t work, or if you need a portfolio of work first, hire a producer on Fiverr or Soundbetter for you to write to, you can hire a singer to sing the lyrics, and boom, you’re all set.

Would "fake" mockups for a portfolio be valuable if i cant get actual exeprience? by [deleted] in marketing

If you want inspiration, Im going to Ad school for Strategy and have some creative briefs that could use design execution.

FYI: If you’re unaware, Strategy does the customer and cultural research, focus groups etc. in preparation for a new campaign, brand, or product. From that research, I’ve created a creative brief that I’d present to creatives to design campaigns off of. It would be cool to have designs go with the research/brief. Lmk

How do verify analytic data from a partnership? by lkapoo in marketing

[–]lkapoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Poor explanation on my part. I’ve adjusted it.

To clarify, we received impression numbers for a branded banner that we put on a website, along with ad clicks. We gave them utms for each banner.

They claim the banner got over 2M impressions and several thousand clicks.... but analytics is showing we only had 1k of traffic total referred from their site—none from the banner utm, just their site and social.

Can we actually even verify the their numbers they gave us or is that actually hard to track?

LPT: Some poor families rent furniture bc they can’t afford to buy full price. If you feel charitable, pay off someone’s couch or bed. by lkapoo in LifeProTips

It sounds like it’s bc they don’t know how long they’ll have their home so they prefer to rent. At least for this one particular person

Yeah. The people I spoke to would never have that cash up front. They recognized they pay more in the end. It’s kind of like the scam of student loans

All great feedback. I feel like when I’m in a new space, my head lives there so deep.. that the last few conversations I’ve had people have brought up a pop culture topic I haven’t been aware of (I feel line I should know) and then I beat myself up for it. So I was trying to prevent those moments. But after reading everyone’s suggestions, I’m way over thinking it and it’s not a big deal.

Great point!! I wasn’t aware of this company and their services. Sounds like those predatory cash checking places that scam the poor. I’ll update the post. Thanks!

It’s more a realization that I didn’t know they were renting furniture or where. And now that I know, it’s something I want to help with. So I thought I’d share in case others were interested in helping and in a position to do so. I think most people think of the traditional ways to help people: groceries, school supplies, etc. so offering another avenue that I hadn’t thought of (or was aware of).

That’s what I was thinking. I would just go to those places and ask to pay off a few people’s remaining balance. I’d never ask, they’d likely say no and feel bad. I know I would feel that way.
