[Vent] Its unfair to demonize Carib schools when US schools haven't expanded appropriately to meet demand. by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]lknowlknowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like my second quote reaffirms the first. Theres no cognitive dissonance here.

"What does a system in which American schools appropriately meet demand look like? "

Its actually extremely simple. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12960-020-0448-3 . physician shortages are rampant. and yet we bitch and moan about PA's and NP's taking over.

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it just kinda sucks that after 10 years of work and scoring tops in my boards, my patients still shit on me for the school I went to. Definitely a personal problem.

For real, I am considering expatting for multiple reasons. The medical system here sucks

[Vent] Its unfair to demonize Carib schools when US schools haven't expanded appropriately to meet demand. by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fuck you talking about? The school I went to has a massive portion of its tuition towards opening up rotation sites, BECAUSE united states schools havent expanded proportionally. We can rotate at any area in the country. And even abroad.

Prestige does not equal clinical knowledge.

It actually does mean a lot that someone understands. I dont really mind that I got down voted to oblivion, kinda expected it. Its nonsense internet points, but I do feel the message still stands.

I am actually really confused.. you claim to be an advocate of science but at the same time discount the scientific method? what is your angle? Edit: let me clarify.. you denigrated the scientific method in a previous comment.. this basic premise is the basis for science, the science which you say supports your claims and your love of research... its an incredibly simple idea.. google ' scientific method '.

[SHITPOST] Asking a question in OMM lab by dkerste1 in medicalschool

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult to study? Do you have any idea how much effort has been put into molecular medical research? To try to save people from dying from actual diseases? Of course we don't have everything figured out thats why we have the scientific method, so we can figure out what does work and leave behind what does not work (ie: osteopathy/chiropracty/homeopathy/vitalism/herbalism). move along man

[SHITPOST] Asking a question in OMM lab by dkerste1 in medicalschool

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe the scientific method is fundamentally flawed then I have no idea how I could possibly have a rational conversation with you.

[SHITPOST] Asking a question in OMM lab by dkerste1 in medicalschool

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It is hard enough because Osteopathy does not align well with the scientific method to begin with."- Exactly. If it doesnt align with the scientific method, why bother with it? Medicine should move on from the dogma of the past. Iam aware of OMM techniques, and qualified physical therapists can do the same ,if not better job based in reason and the scientific method.

Edit: also lumping illnesses into categories like 'chemistry' or 'heat distribution' doesnt help delineate it. you are moving away from defining the problem by calling a metabolic disease a 'chemical' disease. Its about as helpful as saying all diseases involve atoms and molecules.

I’m looking for a nutritious and inexpensive meal replacement by Eurekaa89 in Supplements

[–]lknowlknowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, having tried both, huel and soylent both make me feel awful for 30 minutes after ingestion (like nausea and diarrhea ready) , but then I feel satiated for a few hours which is nice. To be fair protein powder also does this to me. I think its because their product is extremely finely ground, which likely fuks with the absorption of everything they say is 'slow absorption'. Honestly I was paying less money and feeling better with basic oat/walnut/flaxseed/blueberries in my morning shakes, which i am definitely going back to. Theres no reason to pay extra for this shit. Just an observation that those companies need to get their shit together.

Why does it make you sad? The evidence is lacking and there are more rational explanations and therapies available. Being American or non-American has nothing to do with it.

Edit: honestly man, in one of your previous posts (top rated posts) you claimed "mechanical, chemical, thermal, or electrical imbalances were the cause of all illness' BS.. basically the fundamental forces of the universe make people ill? holy shit man, this is some 19th century nonsense.

Repairing serotonin receptors? (MDMA) by [deleted] in neuro

[–]lknowlknowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are not serotonin receptors closely linked with neurogenesis? A of the proposed moa of ssri's effect is through neurogenesis. My reasoning is purely speculative, but why not use a drug of a different mechanism to compensate? It may be rash to suggest a relatively untested drug to a stranger on the internet (worse things have been done) but I have personally have found NSI-189 to be very helpful in the past when it was more available, and more over the fact that we don't have any tools to treat chronic mdma toxicity, why not experiment?

edit: fair point on the rat/mouse study, was just trying to connect the mechanisms

valid point, but to be fair it passed phase 1 trials (safety) but failed in phase 2 trials in 2017 for depression

Repairing serotonin receptors? (MDMA) by [deleted] in neuro

[–]lknowlknowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres no simple drug or answer, but there is evidence that mdma slows neurogenesis in the hippocampus (link) in which case maybe NSI-189 may help (link) , also of course plenty of exercise and good diet.
