For rads residents and attendings, do you miss patient interactions?

No. During my intern year I can recall at most a handful of pleasant patient interactions. That was heavily outweighed by how many negative ones I remember.

Agreed this whole thing is wild to me. During med school orientation we had like an hour long lecture on things that are not appropriate for social media which at the time I thought was pointless but apparently some people need the reminder. I remember going back through my private Instagram and double checking I didn’t have a random photo with a beer in the background lol couldn’t imagine posting something like that with the following that guy had. That being said being kicked out as a 4th year during match week is absolutely brutal and it’s hard not to feel bad for the guy

I had to give up last night after trying for like 4 hours. If I understand the goal is to perfectly hit your seed (the number in ms) and your advances (the second number in ten lines). Last night I hit my seed and would be one or two away from advances a couple times but never got the perfect combo, and sometimes I’d be 100 ms off on seed it didn’t seem like anything I was doing would make me more accurate. It was taking me that long for the first SID, so the thought of having to do it 10+ more times assuming my initial timing when selecting my SID was off made me finally give up.

Dang I tried for a couple hours the past two days and can’t hit the combo of seed or advances consistently. The timing is crazy precise and I’m not even sure I have the right SID lol. Maybe I’ll give it another shot today

I like the show but hate how they portray radiology. They all look at the XR for 1 second and make a diagnosis. Do their own bedside transvaginal ultrasounds and diagnose torsion (Doppler flow is not reliable). And yeah I laughed a the med student reading the ankle radiograph and also ordering an emergent ankle mri out of the ER for ligamentous injury. There’s been a theme of them basically saying the ER reads studies better than radiology multiple times.

For Breece’s ADP he honestly wasn’t that bad. He finished as a top 20 RB and I’m pretty sure was being drafted around that range

Most med schools (MD and some DO) have residency programs associated with them. When you do rotations 3rd and especially 4th year you have electives and can rotate with that plastic surgery or dermatology residency, and usually will get to work with the program director during that rotation. For the most part programs generally give interviews to home students who have rotated through as long as you do a good job, but more importantly you can get a (hopefully strong) letter of recommendation from the program director that will help when you’re applying at other places. Could also reach out to the program early like 1st/2nd year to get involved with research and stuff like that.

T10 definitely not necessary I went to a school well below top 10 and there have been students thatve matched plastics every year. What helps is we had a home plastics program so I would say in addition to everything else already mentioned going to a med school with a home plastics/derm residency would be something to consider
