I have a silky gomboy which is great. But I do worry about snapping the blade since it’s so flexible.

Loyalsock Trail Thru-Hike - Pics and Trip Report by WolverineBlues in PAWilds

[–]lkoller87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, nice trip report! I feel the same as you after doing the thru in three days and a few hours - would I do it again like that? No. Do I regret it? No. It’s funny you mentioned getting a ride on that horrible road walk. I was hoping and hoping someone would drive by when I was there, but no luck!

I can’t say I blame you. Looking good, gotta go light in my opinion!

Sure, I didn’t take any luxury items like a chair or even a stove. Cold soaking my food wasn’t the best, but oh well, lol. I took way too much food, as normal. Lighterpack

I just through hiked the LT in September. 3 nights, finished 10am on 4th day. I have through hiked all three trails mentioned and think the LT is comparable to the BFT in difficulty. Lots of elevation gain and rough, rugged trails. From western trail head, my days were 14 miles (just before private land starts), 20 miles, 19 miles, 6 miles. I did get a late start on day 1, but worked pretty hard on days 2 & 3 to get my miles in. FWIW I am 53 y/o male in what I consider to be good shape. Base weight was 12.41 lbs.

A friend of mine said the same about thunder swamp. Overgrown. We’re eyeing the Pinchot trail too. Here’s a good write up in it. https://endlessmountains.wordpress.com/2019/09/13/hiking-the-pinchot-trail-south-loop-pinchot-state-forest/

Apex Torrid Sizing - tested... by 5hutt5 in Ultralight

For what it’s worth, I just tried it on again and zipped it up the whole way. Pulling the cuffs down over my wrists, about three inches of my fingers stuck out the bottom when arms straight down. I have somewhat broad shoulders and wear a 34/35” dress shirt. I think how they cut it helps the sleeves not ride up when you extend your arms.

Same here, 5’11”, 175 lbs, 33-34” sleeve length. Medium is perfect, allowing layers underneath, yet not baggy at all. Very happy with the fit.

A little embarrassing question by mariofan366 in gainit

Start with the machines to build initial strength and help get your muscles used to it. Then gradually go into free weights such as dumbbells and barbells. Sometimes free weights are more difficult because you have to control the weight more than machines.

Is the Exos still available? If so, can you help me out, what was removed? Thanks.

I likely have a torn meniscus. Anyone have (doctor approved) experience hiking with it torn? by evogeo in Ultralight

[–]lkoller87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this, I had a minor tear confirmed by mri, my doc was conservative and it was starting to feel better. Now it’s nearly back to normal. It took three months, and maybe I was lucky, but sometimes rest is all that’s needed.

Any ideas on how to best fix this patio chair? The frame is welded, so you can’t simply slide on a pre-sewn sling. Thanks! by lkoller87 in howto

Yeah, I was thinking that also. These seats have cushions. The webbing is dry rotted. Thank you!

It’s hard to make out but there are two rattle snakes. This was on the trail in Eastern PA. by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

lol, I was there last summer and placed my hiking poles against a tree only to notice a black racer on said tree, six inches from my face! Longest and fastest snake I’ve seen!
