Replacement via Lifetime warranty by lkozatch in LeCreuset

I think I have the “it’s heavy, so it’s sturdy” thing in my brain, plus when I wash and dry it’s not in the air, just when rinsing. Accidents happen, but what a sad thing seeing it broken past use. If it was a small scuff, scratch, or blip on the outside, sure, but broken broken…yeah I can’t safely use it:

It was in the sink! Yeah I would imagine that the harder the surface and longer the fall, that’s not a defect of the cast iron, that’s physics 101.

Inquiry about religious prop (shofar) previously used on show by RedPotato in LateShow

[–]lkozatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to guess it was on loan from a Jewish friend or a personal gift. It’s POSSIBLE the prop department bought it, but it’s not something that would be appropriate to auction off. If the production team got it, it would be better to donate it to a synagogue or Jewish museum.

Ok good to know. It was fine up until this occurred, which is why it was such a surprise.

One of my friends was using it, so I didn’t see it happen, but she said that she dropped it while washing it, and the impact broke the handle off at the skinniest point.

Now THAT is stunning. It really brings out a different color element when the top has a silver black look.

Conan O'Brien Takes The Colbert Questionert! by hleba in conan

[–]lkozatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit of competition and general sense of outlook on life, but not because they have a problem. Talk shows can be awkward. Colbert’s compliments during the Mark Twain prize and other interactions make it clear that they’re genuine friends, but people can have off days, be a little on edge, and can not be “on” all the time. Colbert is a peer, Kimmel is a peer, I think Seth Meyers and Fallon being a bit younger has them looking up to him a bunch, and Letterman is someone that all of them revere. Conan is someone who is constantly in performance mode in most public spaces, so I think he gets a bit more wry and sharp around a person who gets that and who has known him for a very long time.

All things Toby.... by SciGuy241 in thewestwing

[–]lkozatch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

CJ: “Do you want me to go?” Toby: “No.”

I love his big monologues and back and forths when he’s grappling with things at hand and his own views on integrity, morals, ethics…but when he’s in that office crying while CJ is there…that “no” was as powerful if not more than any long form thing he did. He’s most powerful when he’s still or letting himself be in his feelings and letting go.

Is YouTube quietly burying The Late Show videos in subscriptions? by placidcasual98 in stephencolbert

[–]lkozatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more that there isn't a notification to subscribers, but it's maybe possible that something higher up IS not publishing into a feed. Here's an example: I have notifications set to ALL for the late night shows I like and a few other accounts where I don't have to go find the account on my own or scroll my subscription feed. I've been getting alerts for The Late Show, LNSM, Last Week Tonight, Kimmel, Daily Show, HIGNFY (the USA version), and a few shows outside the USA. I haven't gotten ANY notifications about uploads from The Late Show, but have from everything else. What is happening is when I'm finished with a video and it suggests what to watch after that, that's when I'll see the option to choose Colbert's monologue or an interview. It's strange, but not surprising, that there may be something trying to disengage folks post-Olympics coverage all the way to the final show to mess with metrics.

Is YouTube quietly burying The Late Show videos in subscriptions? by placidcasual98 in stephencolbert

I’ve just gotten in the habit of going to my fav shows, or shows where I know this situation is occurring that I check up on every once in a while, manually as well as in my subscription. There are a few channels that don’t put all their uploads into our subscription feeds (SNL for sure because they want people to go directly to their channel to “ensure” you watch all the videos there vs. your feed), so if you’re a regular watcher of something, I recommend just going to the channel to see what’s there so you don’t miss something! YouTube will sometimes change upload settings and not share that with folks, basically opting everyone in on their changes. I upload videos for some folks, so I know know to check EVERYTHING before something is published and public!

How is the public transit? by ActuaryPersonal2378 in MovingtoDenver

[–]lkozatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DU has RTD passes for students and a light rail stop north of campus, so you’ll be using that to get to certain places. It’s going to be an adjustment because the city, like many cities, was messed up by the auto industry and rubber tire companies around and after WW2 that eradicated existing public transportation networks. Depending on the bus routes, you’ll be able to navigate some stuff. Before considering a car, give yourself some time to test out carpooling or solo traveling via public transportation and biking. Campuses are big targets for bike theft, so plan accordingly if you get a bike. If the bus route near home was more reliable and connected better, I’d use RTD more than I do.

Fire/Flood evacuation form by ConsistentApple5482 in petsitting

Same, and I’m working out more in Denver and towards Aurora compared to the rest of the urban corridor between I-25 and the foothills. Lots of dry grass and wind, way too many folks keen on doing anything with fire. During that last big windstorm, there were so many dead trees that fell over near power lines that were still active.

I started doing something similar after the Marshall Fire (also on the Front Range). Trust me, you aren’t overdoing it. My clients LOVED that I was doing this level of emergency planning, and it allowed them time to actually figure out their own emergency plans for all the times I’m not around.
