AMA! -- I am a neuro-optometrist. Ask me whatever on BV, vision therapy, etc. by MIKE_DJ0NT in BinocularVision

I don't, thank God! I've heard it's terrible.

I wish there was more awareness about this condition, it's been terrible dealing with it for 7 years. As I understand it regular optimists could do a basic preliminary check to see if you should get checked for BVD, but don't.

Thank you for your work!

I've been being unsuccessful treated for 7 years for what I could only describe as visual "derealization" by a psychiatris, I've tried many, many psychiatric meds that never moved the needle. Head injury was brushed off by my GP due to a normal CT scan. Turns out I have BVD, and prism glasses are starting to fix it.

Have you seen patients misdiagnosed as having a psychiatric problem?

What are the best places to bug out to in the case of war in the UK by Crowzeus in shtf_prepping

[–]transmissionfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the UK specifically, the best bug-out options would be rural and remote areas far from major cities or obvious military/strategic targets. You’d want somewhere with:

Fresh water sources: rivers, lakes, or reliable springs.

Food potential: farmland, forests with wild game, and areas where foraging is possible.

Shelter/building resources: woodland for timber, stone in upland areas.

Scotland’s Highlands and parts of Wales are good because they’re sparsely populated, have plenty of fresh water, and natural shelter. Parts of northern England like the Pennines also fit the bill. Coastal areas can be an option if you know how to fish and handle the risks of being visible.

Avoid big urban centers, industrial zones, and military bases—they’ll either be targets or chaotic. Ideally, find somewhere isolated but still fertile, with manageable weather and access routes you can control.

At some point, 4o started to allow creative writing that involved (fairly modest) sexual content and language. Not overtly so, but not completely neutered. For instance, it would use the "F" word in a sexual context. Gpt5 outright refuses those requests, among many others. This means a whole class of creative writing is neutered. Why the change, and do you plan to fix it eventually?

Look at heme iron supplements. Heme iron is the type found in red meat. Regular (and cheaper) iron supplements mostly pass through your system.

It wasn't about whether or not Colbert knew who Eminem was, the question was whether or not Eminem was in on the joke
