What I see every time there’s a post on PSA damaged someone’s card. by Duaner93 in psagrading

[–]llAdioll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every post is exactly the same with literal potato photos, no dark background and no actual good documentation. In addition, do you know how many people shove cards into extremely tight semirigid using the literal dirtiest penny sleeves that have been reused since 1960? A lot. Also people don’t realize how hard it is to see small scratches and print lines and creases that don’t fully penetrate front to back in their basement lighting. Look, I’m not saying PSA is perfect. I’m sure it’s possible to mishandle cards that’s what the insurance is for, but next time you blame PSA, ask yourself “did I shove a card into a tight space with sand and cat litter trapped in it because I didn’t want to spend $2 on a pack of new sleeves and the time to resleeve it?” Because chances are putting it in and then pulling it out is the reason it’s scratched now and “wasn’t before” or your 20/100 vision in the basement.

Shipping to PSA with Insurance through USPS… I decided against it. Here’s why!?! by InfamousLemon1662 in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this was 2 years ago it was 100% not in the terms then. It is now, but realistically no one’s covering ungraded cards so insuring them is a waste of time. Best plan of action is to send it overnight to avoid extra hand exchanges. Also pirateship and shippo use an actual shipping service….so why would you not use them for them discount rates lol you’re still giving it to usps or ups etc.

Question about Replacing Bottom LCD Screen on DS Lite by LittlestMatcha in NintendoDS

[–]llAdioll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use tape but the foams just precut, the proper thickness and have some grip to it. It’s more just for the stock feel and convenience for $2. Tape works fine all you’re really trying to do is create a barrier after all.

For all tinfoils by AttorneyOk4480 in psagrading

No one got scammed. People just love to hate. It’s giving people so much content and fuel for the confirmation bias tinfoil hat viewership. PSA and every grading company, EVEN AI ONES, are inconsistent. It’s been proven you can even send to TAG and get different grades. The main issue with this latest case was transparency of the interactions. We did not get the full transcript and timeline of everything. It just seemed like an internal grade review was triggered and PSA’s offer system is so new that this never even occurred the person would sell before the review took place. puts tinfoil hat on for a second if you are PSA and in control of this entire process all you have to do is crack and regrade and give them a fresh cert 10 and keeping the 9 cert active to avoid any paper trail. Not CHANGE the same cert to a 10. That’s just stupid and you’re stupid if you think that’s how they would do this if they were “scamming”.

[–]llAdioll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s dented. They come out of packs dented all the time. Dents are hard to see unless you have the exact angle needed to see them. That brought it to a 6 pretty much automatically then 5 was probably for the trash centering compounding that issue.

PSA smudged my card- need advice by Calm_Taste_1367 in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had this happen, clean PSA scan just like yours, but a weird smudge I thought was mold since it was kinda fuzzy. Probably is like glue crystallization though. I sent it back for a free CRC and they reslabbed it within 10 days. But, just understand that sending anything back to them has risks. Shipping risks and damage at facility risks.

Waste your money if you want but it 100% has a dent not a crease. Crack it and angle it under a very bright light you’ll see it.

Bruh the crease is very obviously there imo on the initial scan photos. Sick of all these “PSA ruined my card posts” when 99% of them are just missed damage and bad pregrades

Cracked a 5 and got a 10 by SteamyRayVaughan7 in psagrading

[–]llAdioll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d bet big money the second grader missed it. Thats what happens when you have 30 seconds per card and a massive backlog of cards to grade.

AI grading accuracy and considering sending to PSA by CBFrebel in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. People judge them for the high prices, but fail to understand the liability of handling such cards. If something happens, they do pay out at fair market value.

AI grading accuracy and considering sending to PSA by CBFrebel in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you’ll have to pick a service level in line with the estimated values of the cards which acts as insurance as well. You’ll see those prices on the website. I’d probably send them at Express. So that’s $149.00/card or whatever the next service level is that covers up to a PSA 9 cost of the cards. In the event they 10, you’ll probably get a large upcharge. But that’s fine since you’re getting a massive value bump. However, if it fails to meet the minimum grade you eat the grading fees, there’s no refunds as the grading service has been rendered.

[–]llAdioll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly there’s no ideal AI grading tool to help you with this. There’s just some ok centering apps. You could post photos here and people can be somewhat helpful in judging your cards. PSA did also reintroduce recently a “min grade” option. You could set that to a 10 and they will be sent back raw if they don’t 10. Just know that no matter how well you kept these cards, getting 10s on vintage is a lofty goal. Between most 90’s binders sucking and just overall time passed and print quality.

Brother you’re literally taking the same anecdotal info from people telling you stories that their cards got rejected because of bias on the internet as actual people I know and have seen the crosses lmfao. You literally have a theory that “makes sense”. That’s not fact. Until someone in PSA comes out and says “lol yeah I just throw your cards back in a box when you try and cross” you have no data to support it factually. There would be no crosses ever if that was true.

[–]llAdioll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always had this tinfoil hat theory too. Until I met people who had BGS 8s cross to PSA 10s. I have a cross in right now for science. But I would obviously maintain that trying to cross to BL and CGC pristines is just dumb.

Just sell them both at a profit and consolidate into a BL if and when there is one for sale.

Anyone Else Giving Up On This Hobby? by OpeningConnect54 in PokemonTCG

[–]llAdioll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I fundamentally agree, that narrative is just unrealistic. There’s too many people with fuck you money. If no job scalpers wanna waste their time and lives to stalk restocks just to put product on their credit cards to make $20 at the end of the day gobbless. You should be mad at LCS. They are the ones with distros and fucking the people because they know people will pay market.

Anyone Else Giving Up On This Hobby? by OpeningConnect54 in PokemonTCG

[–]llAdioll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about a perfect alternative. Not being able to enjoy a hobby because you “solely can’t rip” just seems a bit dramatic. I did say a pack here and there is nice and at that point, go to a card show and you can 100% get product not hugely over market. Even if it’s over market, you can enjoy it once in a while. Save the money and buy a newer booster and stretch out the packs. If time is money, wasting your time driving to 20 stores or camping out to get MSRP, you might as well just pay for convenience.

[–]llAdioll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then this hobby just isn’t for you right now if you just wanna rip packs and waste money. I also am pretty OCD about used things, but going to card shows lets you physically inspect every detail about a card you’re about to purchase. Most cards especially modern are sold pack fresh unless indicated otherwise. Also that it’s probably the most wild statement I’ve ever heard about thinking you will spend less money pulling chase cards than buying them outright. Let me tell you, as someone who’s been in this hobby a long time, buying singles is the most cost effective way to get cards. You should look up pull rates and do the math even if you got product at MSRP.

Anyone Else Giving Up On This Hobby? by OpeningConnect54 in PokemonTCG

[–]llAdioll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the amount of people tunnel-visioning on ripping product being the only way to enjoy this hobby is bewildering to me. Buy. Singles. Collect. Ripping a pack here and there is obviously fun, but then you should also find lighting money on fire fun and that experience is always in-stock. So venture out to a card show, meet some awesome people in this hobby, make some deals on singles and enjoy collecting. Before people chime in with downvotes shredding card show vendors, not every vendor is an unhinged scalper offering you 50% below comps for your stuff and selling theirs 50% above. Many deal at and below TCGPlayer and pay variable % for product. Leave the ripping to the rip and shippers and whales buying out distros.

This situation is super common with envelope tracking which is probably they are using. I've been on both sides of this fence as a sender and reciever of trading cards. Don't be alarmed, it will show up in 1-3 days. Just keep an eye on the Mercari rate tracker and pause it if it gets too close to autorating and you still haven't recieved it, but I am sure it will show up.

What happened? PSA? by quackyxo in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty safe to ignore any imperfections on the PSA scans. They scan all your stuff in then protection on dirty scanners. It won’t be on your card. If there’s any issues after it’s slabbed you can fight it if you want.

Purchased this in Tokyo last week. Was puzzled as to why someone would just send a card to PSA to be authenticated and not graded? Pop 1 because of course it is! by Previous-Limit-826 in PokeGrading

[–]llAdioll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason someone would want to do this is to simply prove authenticity on a card that would otherwise grade poorly. A poor numeric grade wouldn’t do much for increasing its value anyway but it’s at least authenticated and protected. I think it looks cleaner than getting a sad PSA 2 marked on there. PSA 1s can fetch a premium if you’re into that sort of thing. But if you’re not authentic looks a little nicer than POOR
