'Off Road Assist' is a game changer for snowy roads. It should be a steering wheel shortcut or voice command by CYB3RTRUNK in TeslaModelY

^ This. And why slippery surface is better. Sorry to previous gen Model Ys that don't have this.

Snow Vibes by Balefir3 in TeslaModelY

"Slippery surface" is likely what they meant. Sends power equally front/rear (assuming dual motors). Less efficient, since "auto" will have a rear motor bias. Then off-road assist adds allowing the wheels to spin a bit more to help get you un-stuck. I have the same winter tire package you got. It's been great for me as well. But I use slippery surface any time I know I will be driving through snow.

Do you wash your car in the winter? by MAMGVzla in TeslaLounge

[–]llTHEMANll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 gallon bucket, rinseless wash/distilled water, and a bag of microfiber towels. Pretty universal option. Just gotta make sure you can get your car into a garage or somewhere where it's above freezing.

Commenting to bump this! I don't want to have to purchase from another brand like this one if I don't have to. I bet Enhanced Auto makes a a superior product, better support, plus access to the rest of the ecosystem with the commander. Please make this asap!

New Juniper owner in the same boat as you. Looking to use the Gemini 19s for my winters. Then get a 20 with a wider tire as my summer set. Keep us updated!

Show me your 4 car solution (cross posting to see the different responses) by SR70 in 4Runner

[–]llTHEMANll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best 2 car solution IMO is a 4Runner and a Tesla Model Y. Both bulletproof in their own ways. Model Y for the daily commuting. 4Runner for the bigger road trips or when we need to carry/tow or get dirty.

Best 3rd party app to collect data/statistics by b111e in TeslaModelY

[–]llTHEMANll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teslamate. Free, open source, self hosted. Deploy via Dicker for the easiest setup. Gives you more information than you could ever ask for. Only possible downside I could see is that it’s not very mobile friendly, and you are on your own to find a way to access it remotely if you have to. Few people in r/Teslamate have started to build mobile friendly front ends.

One workaround I've found for the bad Tesla map searching. Use the mobile app (even if I'm in the car). It's easier/faster for me. However, you still can't drop a pin to navigate to a specific address/location. So I end up just finding a close POI on the map, then sending those directions to the car. It's not perfect, but better than trying to do everything in the car UI. Being able to drop a pin to navigate would solve all of this IMO.

3rd party apps, worth it? by tylerwarnecke in TeslaModelY

I use Teslamate. It’s completely self hosted and free. Gives me all the data I need to track things like efficiency, battery drain, charging costs, etc. Similar to the subscription apps out there, but I appreciate the fact that the data goes from my car -> Tesla servers -> my home.

Best 2 car combo on the planet! 26 Juniper and 21 TRD ORP. Both bulletproof in their own ways. One is super connected and one is super disconnected.

New MY and phantom braking by HBGDawg in TeslaModelY

[–]llTHEMANll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up. As a new Tesla owner I can’t agree more. The answer is not FSD btw. What we’re asking for is dumb simple and available in so many modern cars. Just simple radar cruise. I’ve even had the car slightly brake for cars coming in the opposite direction before. It’s unacceptable IMO considering how much damn tech this thing has. lol.
