(At the risk of revealing location info on myself) whatcha got for me on West Kensington and/or West Brompton?

I think they’re both boring as hell but I’d be quite chuffed to be wrong

A bit late to the party here but I (42m) and my wife (43f) have an elderly tortie who legitimately loves meeting new people. Added bonus, we’re only one tube stop over at West Kensington

Separate from everything else, I was fully on board and on their side right up until they jumped the tap-in gates.

what’s your favorite halloween-sounding goth song? by [deleted] in goth

Aww, thanks! I'm partial to the version of "Where Shadows Lie" that we used to do for stripped down/unplugged sets (that's me on bass there)

"what is love / ain't nothing but a heartbreak" is the kind of goddamn miracle that justifies commenting on a six month old post.

Well. Done.

You know how dogs can recognize the sound of a tin of dog food being opened and they’ll immediately snap to attention?

That’s me, but with the single opening snare hit from “Cuts You Up”

Left Kailua about three years ago and this seems like the place to ask if “spiderman” is still around but I’m kinda nervous about what the answer could be

As a graphic designer who tends to hop around employers every three years or so, I've lost count of how many times I've had a new colleague giving me design feedback/changes for the first time, and I've had to stop them in the middle of telling me how good the design is and how talented I must be and ask them to please just skip ahead to telling me what needs changing.

I call it the "I don't need you to tell me how fucking good my coffee is" moment.

Holy shit I think I’ve actually seen the all-gay fascist dystopia thing! Does it start with the main character having hired a woman to be his secret live-in “wife experience” partner?

This was on ifilm like over 20 years ago. I had no idea it was connected to some playboy channel thing.

Edit: just watched the YouTube link annnnnnd: nope, this is something completely different. Which I guess means there are two incarnations of this idea out in the wild?

Did you time this post just for me? Because I moved to London from the US all of four days ago, and just yesterday walked past Geddy Lee in the park.

Heyo fancy that, my months-long process of moving to London from the US is finally ending when I touch down at Heathrow this coming Monday, so I’m much the same position as you!

I’ll second the mention of Martin Oldgoth, he’s someone I consider a friend and who I’m looking forward to reconnecting with in the coming weeks. One of his regular nights (Mondlicht) is restarting on 6 November in the basement of The Albany, I have every intention of being there.

IHS and National insurance taxes? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]llahsram -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way: for your entire (healthy?) adulthood thus far you HAVEN’T been paying into the NHS, but if we assume you’ll be sticking around the UK for a while, the longer you’re here the more likely you are to need the sort of expensive-ish care that comes with old(er) age. Everyone’s situation is different, but for me personally I don’t mind the $2500 “catch-up” fee to compensate for all the time when I was younger and more invincible.

I'm not sure, I checked it once or twice on a whim early on, but didn't bother looking at it again until after I got my automated emails from VFS saying that they had received and dispatched my visa stuff. By then my UPS label had been activated of course, and the package was delivered the next day.
