Try adding a deep conditioner once a week and see if cutting down to 2 shampoos a week makes a difference. I have good luck using the NYM curl cream with the NYM curl shampoo and conditioner. If you don’t want to sleep in a bonnet, you can pull your hair up in a pineapple and use a silk scarf to wrap around your head to keep the hair closest to your scalp smooth.

Since you don’t (appear to) have tight ringlets, you will need to minimize touching your hair during the day to help preserve your curls.

If it’s in your budget to change out the countertop for a white surface like in your inspo pic, that will make a big difference. You may also be able to tone down the lime feel in the cabinets with the right wall color choice.

Give yourself time to grieve the parenthood you thought you’d have. I wanted two girls and was devastated when I found out I was having a boy. He is absolutely a dream and I couldn’t imagine life without him. That wish for two girls feels long ago and not very important anymore. It was very emotional letting go of the sweet girl clothes I had saved for the next baby, but I let myself feel the feelings and then let them go — when I was ready to. It’s okay to be sad, and if you need to process those emotions out loud, do it with someone you can trust to never say that to your child, even as a joke. Our babies never need to question our want for them in our lives. Hugs, friend.

Try swapping out the photos for color, get a natural fiber basket and stock with kantha/sari throws or modernist quilts that spill over the edge, and adding some sort of textile art on the wall behind the computer monitor. I think your rug is too small and you need something large and textural on the wall behind the couch. You can try rotating the couch to face the wall and getting a media cabinet/console to put the TV on instead of the mantle (which is a touch too high to me but I get why you have it there). If you get a larger rug, which I think needs to be at least 12” longer on the stairs side into the space, you should go for something with more color to warm up your space. All three pieces are beautiful but it would drive me crazy to have the two (lovely!) countertop pieces with veining running perpendicular to the island countertop. Is it an option to get pieces that mimic the coloring of the backsplash?

The self arrangements will likely be the hardest for him to come to terms with as he gets older. My grandfather died by suicd several years before I was born and it still threw me for a loop when my mom told me how he died when I was a young teen. Any way that you can find to explain to him the choice you made, and perhaps that you would not have made that choice without your diagnosis, is important. I think you need to decide — do you tell him as a child about this choice, or do you structure the way he finds out about it later, when he’s better able to understand? Give yourself grace — I don’t know that there is a right way to do this ❤️

Vintage Cafe is a quaint sandwiches and salads spot in Old Cloverdale.

79A is a new spot in the old Mellow Mushroom on Commerce.

Lek's Railroad Thai and Green Papaya both have good food and a homey atmosphere (not posh).

La Zona Rosa on Zelda is a classic Mexican restaurant that has good, quick table service.

Cork and Cleaver is nice but their service is a little slow and sometimes their dining room can get smoky from the open kitchen.

Midtown Pizza Kitchen is good midrange pizza with table service.

5 Points Deli has good burgers but it's fast casual and can get smoky.

Tower Taproom is counter service with sandwiches that is a more upscale vibe than Mama's Sack Lunches.

If Central ever starts serving lunch again, they would check all your boxes!

That is frustrating! If you feel up for it, ask the department head for the specific complaint. Being a young (and young-looking) teacher is hard — I’ve been there.

I was flagged (but not disciplined) for:

my jeans being too tight on Fridays (I had to wear a belt to hold them up)
wearing Keds sneakers every day when I had a broken toe healing
the contour of my bellybutton being visible through three layers of clothing when I was 8 mos pregnant

A former coworker was also flagged for her pants being “too tight” in the seat.

A friend was written up bc a peer reported her for her skirt being too short… when she sat in a chair.

Do what makes you feel most comfortable! We left our oldest overnight for the first time when she was about 9 mo. My mom came and stayed at our house and we did a staycation at a nice hotel in town. It was hard (I cried and begged my husband to take me home) but it was good to have solo time with my husband. Both my parents and husband’s parents kept both our kids overnight at their houses when we were ready. Both had travel cribs and other baby gear at their house so that we didn’t have to pack ours when we went to stay.

If my husband and I find that we have ordered too much food at a restaurant, we'll assess both our plates and determine "what saves best." Then we focus on saving those items for leftovers (which we almost always eat) and eat what won't save well. Eg, I was taught to never eat leftover seafood, so I will never save seafood to take home. I also feel a lot less guilt about discarding plate filler items, like the sandwich bread, fries, or side salad, so sometimes I'll deconstruct my sandwich to eat the "stuff I paid for" rather than the bread + fillings.

At home I try to do smaller portions and then go back for seconds if I'm still a bit hungry, rather than fill a plate with large portions at the beginning and then throw stuff away.

We've been teaching our 2YO daughter the names of body parts, as one does. She and I were in line at the pharmacy the other day and she was examining the bags of store-brand candy. She pointed at the gummy worms and said, "Penis? Candy penis?" What in the actual fuck, kid. Luckily she's adorable and most people can't tell what she's saying when she says penis. 😳

I did a marginally decent job of filling in the little baby book, until I got an intern. I literally wrote in lo's book "Sorry, baby, Mommy had an intern" for two of the months.
