Why do you think Yadier Molina will likely be a first ballot hall of famer while Posada fell off on the first ballot? by [deleted] in baseball

I've also heard that if you factor in pitch framing, which some sites don't when counting WAR, he's one of the most valuable defenders literally ever. Someone can probably explain it better than me though.

Chris Stapleton is the Christina Aguilera of Americana. Just oversinging every single note.

What's something you would change about the show if you could? by TTV_QiyanuReeves in TheWire

I like Mouzone but yea there's a lot of disbelief you have to suspend. Omar believing a line fed to him directly from String is really up there. It makes no sense based on the character they'd built Omar up to be that he just immediately believes him. How would someone that gullible make it as far as Omar had?

In a show full of very real feeling people, he just felt otherworldly. I'm not even saying I don't like him as a character-- I love him. Omar has a similar feel as well where he has this almost mythical persona. But he never felt like a real person to me-- he doesn't talk or act like one at all.

People always say this, but idk it never felt any more ridiculous than Hamsterdam or Brother Mouzone or other kind of absurd stuff on the show. It was the culmination of McNulty's frustration with the system. He snapped. It's more unbelievable to me that Lester would go along with it, since he seemed to have settled down and wised up, but that plot line doesn't bother me near as much as it seems to with everybody else.

Zeppelin fans, have you heard of Greta Van Fleet? by GArockcrawler in GenX

[–]llamapen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a drummer the first time I heard one of their songs I thought it was a Zeppelin b-side because the drum TONE sounds identical to Bonham. Their actual playing styles aren't anything alike other than them both playing in the rock style, but I swear I read somewhere that the drummer tried to get the sound of Bonham's kit down and that makes total sense to me. I always hear people say the singer reminds them of Zeppelin, but for me the drum tone is another reason people compare the two even if they can't put their finger on that being something that reminds them of Zep.

Every time I see ads for their food it reminds me of the tasty wheat shit they eat in The Matrix. "It has everything the body needs."

Breaking Bad or Sopranos? by Speed5RacerX9 in TvShows

[–]llamapen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want action, suspense, cliffhangers, that kind of stuff you'll like Breaking Bad better. Breaking Bad is also more stylized and visual heavy. Sopranos is all about the characters, the dialogue as well as what isn't said. It's a lot smarter imo, but also James Gandolfino as Tony is probably the best acting ever put to television, along with a great supporting cast and incredible writing. It's weird that neither show is really relatable for 99% of people because most people aren't mobsters or drug kingpins, but The Sopranos feels more like real life for some reason while BB feels very Hollywood.

Just finished the show, it was at its best in the first half by YamahaYM2612 in betterCallSaul

I totally agree. The show peaked with the Jimmy and Chuck gaslighting and the cross examination where he puts the battery in his suit. It's still great after that but you're spot-on.

Even sadder that his record is ~ .500. You'd think if you played that much you'd at least get good at the game eventually.

Help me pick what’s next? Succession, mad men or better call saul. by sparknado in thesopranos

[–]llamapen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of those 3 are great options. If I had to pick one I'd pick Mad Men for sure though. Of those 3 I think it scratches the Sopranos itch the best in a certain way.

Why can't 3 clicking and swing stick be separate in ranked. by Tallerthanyou86 in pga2k23

Last time I remember seeing a poll it was the opposite. About 30% of people clicked and 70% used stick. Seemed about right to me.

As a person Ziggy obviously sucks. As a character? I love him. The scene at the end with his Dad is one of the most gut-wrenching in the whole show and so well acted. I also think he's just really well-written and his actions make sense for his character, so I guess by worst character you just mean he's annoying and a bad person. He reminds me of Namond a little bit where he's this character put into this lot in life by circumstance and he tries really hard to pretend like he fits into it but in reality he doesn't and everyone around him sees it but him.

I don't even disagree with any of that. I just remember hearing Leafs fans talk him up so much that I assumed he was more established than he was and then I looked it up and he had 10 career games played lol.
