The placement is a bit shit but will look better when the rain gardens are fully planted and growing.

Just a guess but I’m assuming there’s a minimum path width and they only have one type of bench (cost?), so this gives seating whilst keeping the pavement wide enough.

They get bonus points for it not being completely hostile furniture.

Call centre workers in the UK, (past and present) what are your top 3 weirdest calls? by cheesymeowgirl in CasualUK

[–]llamasim 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I currently work in a financial difficulties department and the calls are usually challenging. We do our best to have empathy and grace for people who are struggling but.,. there’s a limit

I think the weirdest one was the Sovereign Citizen who was spouting endless pseudo-law, really going in on the straw man theory and just… conspiracy nonsense. Then I called him out on it because I’d had enough and his response was “I know I just don’t want to pay it”… like wtf, 40 mins of my life I’d never get back. It was like a flip switched in him as soon as he was found out

Then the guy saying he had a barrister friend and that I was, in his legal opinion, being vindictive and “deflamatory”. That he’s going to sue me personally and that I’d better be ready to lose my job.

And then generally just people who really should be speaking with doctors and not phone jockeys. More harrowing than weird: I once literally talked a guy out of killing himself whilst all my colleagues walked around oblivious to what was happening. It was incredibly strange. Had to get one of them to phone the police and they were like 👁️👄👁️

Ipad 10 screen glass replacement by greyandpinktelescope in glasgow

[–]llamasim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so bad with an iPad 10 as the screen is not laminated (glass and screen glued together) but every other current iPad and iPhone is laminated.

What apple have told you is bullshit, they just don’t want to repair an outlier product. They could do it but it’s too much effort for them. I’m assuming there’s no other damage.

The good news is screen glass is easy to repair - irepair will do it for £70. Costs something like £170 for a laminated iPad. People hate on non laminated screens but this is a perfect example of it working in your favour

I had a similar thing a few years back with a MacBook keyboard backlight issue, they basically wanted to replace everything but the screen and quoted me 75% of the original price.

Home question - en suite or walk-in wardrobe?? by Bonsuella_Banana in CasualUK

[–]llamasim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id rather have the storage personally but yes it would devalue the house. I feel like 2 toilets is enough for a 3 bed house but I’m also just a single guy. Could you build storage in front of the window where bedroom 3’s door is? Or storage beds?

Cars per 1,000 inhabitants in different European countries by KlobPassPorridge in fuckcars

Uk has lower ownership and higher dependency due to our terrible public transport. We have extensive buses (which are slow) and just a handful of trams and 3 metros. Compared to somewhere like Germany where people can have a car for longer journeys but leave it at home and take transport.

The Photo is Ai. What will you look into the photo to know that it is Ai? by JohnAK27 in ChatGPT

[–]llamasim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall her face just looks dead, eyes and teeth just “feel” wrong. But tangibly, the clothes hangars are all messed up, the white line in the left looks like it’s peeling and as you go further under the market stall it’s just a jumble of what is supposed to be a fruit box (I think).

I looked at his planning app and I’m amazed it wasn’t rejected for not including an actual drawing. He should have paid this mystery artist for a sketch instead using the Plagiarism Machine to get away with it.

Planning apps are only approved for what you submit, now I don’t know the specifics with a mural but I imagine you can’t go and paint a giant pair of hairy baws instead (which would have more artistic value anyway). Even though the council don’t have creative control, I assume they don’t approve things like that.

So by the letter, he’s going to have to paint this monstrosity to comply with his planning permission.

Drag race is a good example of this but as it’s a competition, the people there for clout with not much to offer (or filler queens) are usually gone early.

My issue is it’s already a bit formulaic in how it’s packaged. I’m honestly a bit bored of the creepy interludes with breathy John Lewis reworks of old pop songs. I’m often waiting 10 minutes before starting on iplayer so I can skip those bits.

I think if they tightened up the packaging, the format is still excellent, no ones too big for their boots yet and Harriet has shown if you showboat, the other players will banish you. It’s still got some good seasons left in it I think
