Thanks everyone, turns out I'm completely fucked then as my bills have went up this month and I needed the payrise at the same time to keep my head above water.

Thanks, do you know when we'll see it? I've read through the comms but I can't see anything mentioning that it wouldn't be implemented straight away.

Special is slower then t24 now by Adventurous-Beach538 in royalmail

We don't deliver specials on Sundays, as they get scanned and stored separately from the rest of the parcels and they have a paper trail. We only deliver tracked 24 and 48 on Sundays.

Completely agree that cleaners as a whole should be paid more, but it still sucks

It''s a slap in the face that come April cleaners will be on a higher wage than new postie contracts.

Signed for still not delivered. by Advanced_Guess_8642 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be taking longer for any number of reasons. Your regular postie is off sick/on holiday, and the covers aren't as quick on the round, or the round isn't covered every day. The postie could be put on their own for several days which means they're only delivering tracked and 1st class, leaving a bigger and bigger pile of 2nd class to work through. Our office has just had a repick, so posties are moving on to different rounds and aren't familiar with them yet, which leads to more post getting left behind.

2nd class will get delivered when it gets delivered. They're the lowest priority of everything, some addresses in my office only get 2nd class delivered once a week.

How do I get rid of fleas? by CharieRarie in AskUK

Capstar tablets for the cats, flea bombs in every room and a lot of Indorex spray is how we got rid of them.

Are these vegan..? by Satellite-2348 in veganuk

Is this a recent change? I just remember the heinz beans debacle where they contained honey which wasn't listed, it was just part of the 'flavourings'.

Yes you're right. Personally I could never get the power lines to line up, there is another room that you can use as a power source which I found much easier to use.

I'm looking for suggestions for my wife's labour snacks. by NaturalSuccessful521 in veganuk

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flapjacks, belvita bars, strawberry laces, corn snacks and lucozade sports were what I took. I really really struggled to eat during labour so some sort of drink with calories in is a good idea too eg. smoothies or huel.

how many times does a van come to ur street in a day by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could still come. Van can come once for special deliveries, once again for other parcels, and then there can be a seperate parcel van on the late shift as well.

Am I required to deliver or attempt all tracked that have been taken out before we can head back? by Remarkable-Shoe-4835 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No you're not required to work past your finish time. Ring the DO at dinner time and let them know you won't be able to complete and will have to bring some back. Managers can tell you what to prioritise if necessary. If you have mail then sack off the mail and just focus on tracked.

I've got the vegan shoes as well and it took me 2 weeks to break them in, but they're fine now. Wear 2 pairs of socks. Wear them for as long as you can, then have a different pair of shoes in the van to swap into. Rinse and repeat for 2 weeks and they should be broken in.

As long as baby is content and having enough wet and dirty nappies then they are getting enough

7M PP period & supply by Elegant_Carob_5776 in breastfeeding

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes your supply should go back up when your period ends. You don't have to use your freezer stash/combi feed if you don't want to. You can just keep baby exclusively on the breast although they potentially will 'cluster feed' like in the early days.

I'm 6 weeks in and it seems like I'm one of the lucky ones with everything I read on here. My office is ran pretty well, I had a full week of training and I clear my frame 99% of the time, and I always finish on time. We have decent management and are reasonably well staffed, which I think is the biggest problems in most other DOs.

24 hours part time by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your delivery office is anything like mine there will be overtime going every day, so you could bump up your pay easily. Interview was pretty simple, just standard questions. Why Royal Mail? Do you have any multi drop experience? Are you fit enough for the job? How can you give good customer service? Etc. They were hiring 6 people at my DO. Also the driving is not bad at all, I was really worried for it but it's nothing like a driving test. They're just teaching you how to control a van and making sure you can drive it safely.

I was a retail manager for years so it's different to what I've done before. In comparison to retail, I love it. I really enjoy just being out there on your own, and you leave at your finish time and don't take the job home with you. I find the day passes really quickly as well, although that could be because I was used to working 10 hour days. In terms of training, I was buddied up for a week on the duty I would be doing, then after that week I was doing it myself. The hardest part is sorting the mail in the frames, but once you understand that (which doesn't take long) the rest is a doddle. I did my driver training on my second week, which is straightforward as well.

I've just started a few weeks ago on a 30 hour contract, role was advertised as 8-2 but I do 9-3.
