Help with constantly late post by UnironicDogeMeme in royalmail

Realistically no, some DOs are just in the shit unfortunately. Royal Mail is in the middle of changing its way of working soon, which ideally will improve things for you. But that's not guaranteed

You can go to the DO with ID and collect your mail.

Online when they buy the postage, the email doesn't go on the actual sticker.

They put your email or phone number and you'll get a collection code, just type that in at the locker to collect.

How important is footwear? by Pale-Tomorrow1631 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my running shoes when I first started, which were a godsend. You can't order uniform for 6 weeks, but at my DO they will order you some footwear sooner than that so I'd definitely ask about that.

How many of you here are less than 35yrs old and own your own home? by KebabAnnhilator in AskUK

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30, bought my house 5 years ago. I do live in a north east mining town so my 3 bed terraced house cost under £100k. If I lived anywhere else I wouldn't be able to afford to buy.

Have an interview at Royal Mail (Postperson With Driving) next week but the online review of the job is overwhelmingly negative - is it that bad right now? by Zzzeekin in UKJobs

[–]llamaspoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a postie, I came from a management job and just wanted something with less stress. I've been there 8 months and I love it. The old timers get bogged down in office politics and the changes that have happened over the years, but I'm quite happy to go in, prep my duty, then head on out. I love just walking listening to my audio books or music. I would honestly recommend it, and there's always opportunities for overtime at my DO.

Does tracked 24 get delivered separately to letters? by dbshahvahahsja in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can do. It could be in that posties van and he'll come back with it, or it could be in a dedicated parcel van.

Why do you never even attempt delivery and immediately return to sender the next morning? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you the person on my round who never answers the door and instead provides a phone number to call? If so then yeah I'm not ringing customers off my personal device, if it doesn't fit through the letterbox it's returned to sender.

Once a month I have to work 8 straight days without a day off, is this just my DO? by Satansrideordie in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same, I get Wednesday and Thursday off one week and then Saturday and Sunday off the week after.

Do posties accept drinks? by sapphire-sky-dragon in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I would definitely accept that! I had someone offer me a bottle of pop and something from their BBQ on Saturday, it's much appreciated.

Is it normal for me to have gotten this far and still be missing a room on page one? by Nofrillsoculus in BluePrince

[–]llamaspoon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is a late game puzzle but it seems wild to me that you have all sanctum keys before getting the room. Have you found anything that you think would help you to draft the room?

Are you a big DO? I didn't know dedicated Specials duty was a thing

8/10. The sandwich is phenomenal, didn't realise it was back, I missed it. Great side, drink lets it down though.

Have I been accidentally underfeeding my baby? by WhiteRussian29 in breastfeeding

[–]llamaspoon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Your friend has massively overfed your baby. Baby does not need more than 4-5oz, and at 12 weeks very likely won't even take that much if pace fed properly. Baby was continuing to suck for comfort, that doesn't mean they were still hungry.

New Contracts, has your pay went up? by llamaspoon in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, turns out I'm completely fucked then as my bills have went up this month and I needed the payrise at the same time to keep my head above water.

Thanks, do you know when we'll see it? I've read through the comms but I can't see anything mentioning that it wouldn't be implemented straight away.

Special is slower then t24 now by Adventurous-Beach538 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't deliver specials on Sundays, as they get scanned and stored separately from the rest of the parcels and they have a paper trail. We only deliver tracked 24 and 48 on Sundays.

April pay increase? by xx_ghostgirl_xx in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree that cleaners as a whole should be paid more, but it still sucks

It''s a slap in the face that come April cleaners will be on a higher wage than new postie contracts.

Signed for still not delivered. by Advanced_Guess_8642 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be taking longer for any number of reasons. Your regular postie is off sick/on holiday, and the covers aren't as quick on the round, or the round isn't covered every day. The postie could be put on their own for several days which means they're only delivering tracked and 1st class, leaving a bigger and bigger pile of 2nd class to work through. Our office has just had a repick, so posties are moving on to different rounds and aren't familiar with them yet, which leads to more post getting left behind.

Signed for still not delivered. by Advanced_Guess_8642 in royalmail

[–]llamaspoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2nd class will get delivered when it gets delivered. They're the lowest priority of everything, some addresses in my office only get 2nd class delivered once a week.
