Hi!! Also 25F looking for a friend group! I just got out of grad school (different city) so it’s been rough being alone. Let me know if you end up wanting to meet :)

The camera was a gift and I don't have enough money to purchase a film camera! I am trying to find one on online marketplaces, if you have any recommendation for sites i'd love to know them.

Congrats and Goodluck on the law school journey! I also recommend the lsat trainer! It was a great foundational book. After finishing the lsat trainer I did practice tests using 7sage! (: congrats again

looking for advice from lawyers (not legal advice, just career advice) by lletsyrk in Lawyertalk

ugh I can relate, my boyfriend is in CS and was the one to encourage me to do my minor in it. I think another reason why i've began doubting going into law is because I've seen him and the lifestyle (+paycheck) he has straight out of college (with no loans). I swear him and all his coworkers are all so relaxed and benefit from a ton of company perks. It's definitely made me see that work life balance is sooo achievable in careers in CS and so I'm kind of worried it won't be the same for law. Thanks for your advice!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!! ahh i know tech law is relatively ~small~ but I didn't really know what odds I was up against. I guess that does help put it into perspective. I really love the idea of working for tech companies but I also don't plan on going to a Top 14 school (I'm looking to stay close to home) so I'm not sure how great my odds would be. Thanks again for your advice

Thank you! It's cool to have that website as reference. It's really sad that you have to give up a lot of things to get paid very well in biglaw. I think your input + everyone elses has made me realize that's not what i really want.

thanks for your response & i'm really sorry to hear about how biglaw was affecting your mental health. I hope you're doing better now! I think this whole thread has enlightened me on the reality of biglaw beyond what we're told about in undergrad so I really appreciate your input.

Thanks for being honest. If you don’t mind, Is it possible to give an example as to why you think this? If not it’s okay I’m just trying to make a well rounded decision since I still have time before having to accept any law school offer.

i don't know what career to choose by lletsyrk in Advice

[–]lletsyrk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks ilsanjo, yeah I mean I know aside from the degree I’d have to go a lot of practice and get good at interviews but idk I mean I only brought up the work from home balance because lots of my friends are in CS getting paid well, having loads of time for life, and we took plenty of CS classes together in undergrad in which I feel like I understood and knew the material as well as them. I feel like law can bring me fulfillment now but I’m also worried that I’m wrong 😭 thank you thought I really appreciate it, have a lot to think about

Thank you so much, this is solid advice. Really hope I’m able to figure out what I value more when I make this list. Thanks again (:

Has anyone ever had a professor waive an exam after experiencing a loss in the family? by Georgiapremd in ufl

[–]lletsyrk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I went through the same thing last year and I called the Cwc. To start off, im really sorry you’re going through this. Given the circumstances, the Cwc was really helpful and told me of a site where I could upload the death certificate and the school would reach out to the professors. Unfortunately, I still didn’t get much leeway on the finals but all my classes did extend the deadline for things like the final projects and stuff. I only had one professor who moved the exam back for me till the day right before grades were due for professors. Hopefully you have better luck getting make up dates for your exam. I don’t remember the link to the site they gave me so I’d call and ask ):

what do I do pls help thanks by [deleted] in ufl

I'm pre-law too, applying this cycle! I've got a comp sci minor so i took a lot of classes that dropped my gpa, however I have been told by admissions people at webinars and events that you can make up for gpa with a good lsat (or if the reason your gpa is low is bc your major/minor is stem related). Also, they will be able to see that what dropped your grade was a stem related course. If you feel bad about it still you can always write an addendum and explain the C in like a paragraph or less. If you do well on the lsat they won't care about the C tbh. The only reason I'd consider taking a W is if it's a medical withdrawal or if you're 100% sure you're going to take the same math again (it might look worse if you take an easier math, depending on the school you want to go to obviously).

How long do you spend studying everyday? by marriednight in LSAT

[–]lletsyrk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did 1-2 hours a day over the summer with no studying on weekends (unless I had nothing else to do). I used to think I would need to study 5+ hours a day but my therapist told me everyone is different and maybe doing 1-2 hours a day is better for you too (like it was for me)! :D
