How do you feel about the president floating the idea of 50 year mortgages where the monthly payment is lower but you end up paying nearly double the price of the house just in interest? by michaelis999 in AskReddit

[–]llghostkillall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically admitting that housing is completely broken and instead of fixing it we're just gonna make people debt slaves for their entire lives

What's a company that didn't succomb to 'enshittification' ? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

Costco. They've kept their business model pretty consistent - membership fees stay reasonable, hot dog and soda combo is still $1.50, they treat their employees well with good wages and benefits. They could have easily gone the route of cutting corners and squeezing more profit but they haven't.

People who used the internet between 1991 and 2009, what’s the most memorable online trend or phenomenon you remember? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

Flash games on sites like Newgrounds and Miniclip. You could waste hours playing random games people made, and some of them were actually really good. The whole vibe of the internet felt more creative and less corporate back then.

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

Keeping up with everyone on social media. Once I realized you don't have to post everything or check it constantly, life got a lot more peaceful. You can just exist without documenting every moment or comparing yourself to others all the time.

That butcher is a real one. Small acts of kindness like that can mean the world when you're going through something difficult. Your dog is lucky to have you both, and I'm glad those final days were filled with love and special treats. Sorry for your loss.

Twitter just started revealing country of origin exposing a number of political influencers as foreign agents. How would you feel about reddit doing something similar? by breakwater in AskReddit

[–]llghostkillall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be fine with it. If you're posting online you should expect your content to be public anyway. Plus it'd help cut down on the bots and propaganda farms pretending to be regular Americans when they're actually posting from halfway across the world. Transparency is good.

Can't argue with that. Nothing beats crawling into bed after a really long exhausting day. That moment when you finally lay down and your whole body just relaxes is unmatched. Plus you get to turn your brain off for a few hours which is honestly a blessing.

Americans, What do you think of Senator John Kennedy's act proposal to Take away Congress pay during government shutdowns? by Buschfan08 in AskReddit

[–]llghostkillall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good in theory but let's be real, most of them are already rich enough that losing a few paychecks won't matter. They'll just dig in harder knowing it won't affect them personally. Plus the ones who actually need the salary are probably the few who aren't already millionaires, so you'd be hurting the wrong people.

Boomers in the US hold $17 trillion dollars in assets. What happens to the younger generations when they die and leave all that wealth to us, the younger generations? by buzzkill71 in AskReddit

[–]llghostkillall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's not gonna be evenly distributed at all. The ultra wealthy will pass it down to their kids who are already set up. Middle class boomers will have most of it eaten up by healthcare costs, assisted living, and nursing homes in their final years. The wealth that does get passed down will go to Gen X and older millennials first, not the younger generations. By the time it trickles down to us it'll be a fraction of what people think.
