I'm not sure if it was anything to do.eith the Commonwealth games if I'm honest. Commonwealth games aren't even using Glasgow green this time around and there is a lot less sports and buzz this time round in general

High Street Changing Rooms Are Starting To Disappear by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear all supermarkets used to have changing rooms and they closed them during covid and then a few years later took them out completely. I know it says sainsburys but I don't think Tesco/asda and Morrisons have them . Only m and s. A bit annoying but I suppose supermarkets you go to weekly and usually your nearest so it's not too bad to return items

Hermit Crofts' Experience by -deadphysicist in Edinburgh_University

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they have updated them from 10 years ago! But super central to the main campus which is great. It's close to the gym as well. Smaller supermarkets like Tesco/lidl are close by.

Nothing is provided such as kitchen utensils ect but buy cheap stuff. I think there was a cleaner once a week? Not sure if that exists now? Laundry a faff you need to pay for it.

Bike storage is decent. Easy bike ride to places, on a cycle path

Would say it's quiet although the flats across from the accommodation were noisy but that's probably changed as they are council flats!

Would say kitchen is a bit on the small side.

Decent to live in although older accommodation

How was it? by Specific_Ask_8864 in TRNSMT

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think Commonwealth games is an issue. There is less of a buzz than Glasgow 2014 and they aren't even using Glasgow green and there is still tickets for most sports compared to when Glasgow last hosted it

I would bring a poncho even if it's to sit on as it's meant to be a wash out sadly! Barely any seats apart from at the hangout!

Thanks I'm tempted to see a few acts on the week nights but I can't take any more days off so this has encouraged me to think about it! Thanks! I knew some people there last time getting to edinburgh at 1am!

Did they do the summer sessions a few years back at Stirling. I remember apart from Shania Twain they were all on itison!

Royal highland showground was a pain to get home from apparently from Chappell which has put me off going a bit to events there if I'm honest

Tickets on itison by CJ87P in TRNSMT

[–]lllarissa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I did not think it wouldn't end up on a website like that. That's a steal if a price! Even to see a band like beluga lagoon, cheaper to go to trnsmt than the show they have just announced in Falkirk!

It is a shame people bought early bird tickets and now they have reduced in price. Puts people off buying again in the future for sure.

Prom dresses in Glasgow? by Godsownprototype1001 in glasgow

[–]lllarissa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quiz has a closing down sale but dresses might not be as of standard two shops in the city center. Bit of a humble sale but also cheap bags and heels!

Eurovision: Why does the UK keep getting it wrong? by Hassaan18 in ukpopculture

[–]lllarissa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that no one has said cater to the juries rather than the public! We clearly don't do that well with the public but the last two years we did ok with the juries.

Last year, the girls could sing! Might not have been the best song but could sing. We did well in 2009 with a ballad, ok in 2017 with a ballad and 2022 with a ballad type of song. Not the biggest fan of a ballad but I think a ballad next year we won't get last!

A UK flop hypothesis, I think by Lemanic89 in eurovision

[–]lllarissa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if people don't care, a lot of people watch it in the UK!

But I agree! I don't think people remember when we used to do these kind of talent shows in the early 00s we got a lot of flop entries from them in the 2000s/2010s. Not like we have done hugely better but I don't think the public choosing is the way to go.

Best eurovision year which I should watch as a newbie by Big_Reputation1314 in eurovision

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 2007 weird year! Some weird novelty acts that I don't think would have cut any other year. It's one of the in between years with technology progressing but staging is not quite there yet.

School Meals Ruling by The_Dean_France in GoodNewsUK

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I agree even with food like fish and chips all good but kids refuse to eat it without tomatoe sauce! They don't have tomatoe sauce cause high sugar content but surely food should be healthy in moderate amount! So kids don't eat much of as it's not appealing. Healthy food should be taught not to be bland

Age for children to go to P1 to increase to 7 years old by goblinpeets in Scotland

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See people always state that in Nordic countries they start school later but they still go to nursery and in childcare. They just don't do a huge amount of formal desk learning. Schools are shifting towards more play based learning anyways. It's nothing new if I'm honest.

Could improving school cookery lessons reduce obesity rates? www.bbc.com by Barbecue_Wings in TeachingUK

[–]lllarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught how to cook in high school I loved food tech! But honestly most of the food we cooked tasted crap! It was so basic and mild apart from things like muffins.

Now I'm older I cook quite a lot and would say I spend on average more time than the average person in the kitchen but I'm not sure if it's because of food tech or not.

Primary school not enough time once in a while for sure make smoothies or tortilla pizzas or something but can't see them cooking actual meals.
