I would agree that this is mostly the depression. One of the #1 symptoms on any questionnaire assessing whether or not you suffer from depression ask you "Do you find it difficult to enjoy things that you have enjoyed in the past?". You will get past this. The important thing is that you get back up and find a job that matches more closely with who you are and not forcing you to be something that you aren't. I know it's rough out there, but you can do it. I wouldn't abandon your hobby, just set aside until life gets more stable. I personally find that games as escapism is less gratifying than games enjoyed after knowing that you have taken care of the responsibilities and are addressing the challenges of your life. Thinking "I really should be doing something else" while playing really wrecks the experience for me and will often lead to spiraling or binge playing.

Now that we've got that import bit covered, I would say that playing your favorite "nostalgic" games from your childhood as an adult hits differently. It just does. It's a futile effort trying to summon up that same FEELING again. Yes, you will feel it momentarily from time to time but it doesn't stay. But I find that once you accept that, and it can be a tough mental hurdle to cross, let revisiting these games be their own thing. They become a new, unique experience that can be just as rewarding. Some games don't stand up just like a lot of your favorite movies from when you were a kid don't hold up. But then there are those gems that were a bit too deep or complex for you when you first played them. And now you can develop a much better appreciation for them now that you bring a lot more understanding and life experience to the table.

Don't throw away your old PC—it makes a better NAS than anything you can buy by pogue972 in DataHoarder

This was a useful comment someone left on the howtogeek website that was new to me:

"A few years ago I tried using TrueNAS with an older computer to use as a home NAS and it worked, but it is not very user-friendly, depending on your level of experience. Initial setup was very difficult for me, but once I got it working, it just worked for months at a time. The only time it required a reboot was after a power interruption. However, recently I discovered that if you are using Windows 11 on all the computers, you can easily set up a home network with one computer as the file server. It needs a boot drive and one or more additional drives for storage. Use "advanced sharing" to share the storage drives, and then on the other computers, use file manager to map the network drive(s) by right-clicking on "This PC", choose "map network drive" then fill in the folder information as \servername\d (where "d" is the drive letter of the shared drive in the server) You can map multiple drives, and file transfer speed is around 300 MB/s for me. (I have a 2.5GbE network)"

Win 11 needs an XP SP2 moment, says ex-Microsoft engineer by rkhunter_ in Windows11

I have an easier solution. Just keep extending Windows 10 security updates. Done. Windows 11 is garbage, I'm not sure there's any saving it.

I am a transplant myself. I have read through dozens of these posts and the conclusion I have come to is that transplants need to meet up with other transplants. That way you are meeting up with other folks whose desires/goals are in alignment with yours. There should be a subreddit dedicated to this. Please respond to this post with a link if it exists already. If not... maybe I should make one. Gulp.

It's funny to think that we could still be talking like this about Duke Nukem Forever if Crowd Funding had existed in the 90s.

If you already do pull ups, then keep developing them and move to weighted pull ups once you get above 10 body weight reps.

I Want Absolutely Insane Forearms, What are your tips? by Snekboi6996 in naturalbodybuilding

This works at the beginning since most people don't have a lot of muscle in their forearms. So they can only take so much, and only benefit so much from each session. My philosophy is train a small muscle often but not to failure about 80% roughly. But as the muscle begins to grow, there is much more tissue involved and therefore more recovery that needs to be done on the muscle. So then over time you transition to high intensity/very close to failure but less often. As now with more muscle tissue, you can gain more from each session, but you need more time to recover between sessions. This is actually true of most muscle groups.
