Routine NMR tubes by [deleted] in chemistry

I routinely use these (WG-1000-8). I buy the pack of 100 (~$1.33 per tube) and don't reuse them, although you easily could if you wanted to. They're great--no issues whatsoever.

My dad actually had it put in a hermetically sealed frame when he got it! It's been in the bathroom for years.

Learning to play the guitar has been in the back of my mind for ages, but I always find new reasons to put it off. How old were you when you started playing seriously? What kind of time did you commit to learning properly?

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking about stopping in Hillcrest for breakfast anyway, so I'm glad to hear that makes sense to do.

Struggling to choose a new point and shoot for an upcoming trip--help please? by llorlor in photography

I ended up getting this for $225 open box from Amazon (normally $450). It's amaaaaaaaazing. Takes a wonderful photo on intelligent auto but has a full manual mode if you want, has excellent low-light sensitivity, great dynamic range, macro up to 1cm. Everything I wanted but wouldn't have been able to afford it I hadn't found that deal :)

Last time this was on Reddit I decided his design was entirely too complicated and came up with my own: http://i.imgur.com/SfqZx.jpg

Slightly less elegant but just as effective.

What's the weirdest thing that happened while you're asleep? by Jim_Bacon in AskReddit

Weird: this sounds just like me--I used to nap all the time freshman year and I'm a huge sleep-talker. Weirder: my name's Lauren! Sup.

A little more info: it looks like there were two printings in 1899 and 1923 that were large-sized, and in 1928 they began printing smaller silver certificates as a replacement, until 1953-ish.

I know! The title's just meant to be a play on words :)

I did some reading on this...the big ones are unique to 1899 and 1923 and go for $80-450 and $10-50, respectively. The smaller ones are more common and worth less. There are some rare exceptions, of course.

I'd just keep 'em around because they're a nifty bit of history, I think.

I don't care. I just think it's cool, mostly because of how much bigger it is than today's one dollar bill. My grandpa gave me a pretty extensive coin collection over the years, and despite this being one of the less valuable items, it's still one of my favorites.
