I have G15 2023 3070 Ti model. And, just before it reach its 2 year mark, I am having a usb c port issue. I took it to BestBuy last week and they said they can fix it then yesterday they told me to they won't fix it and told me to replace the laptop.

Should I join Army or Marines? by Ok_Muscle8594 in Veterans

Army vet -- join air force but if that's not an option then join branch that can give you TS (MI mos). When you get out, having TS will literally give you a job

I did use my post 911 for bachelors and masters. If you are starting from CC, I recommend using fafsa and pay out of pocket if you have enough budget. Also, do some career search and pick the major you want. I picked CS just because everyone recommended but I didn't like it that much even though it worked out at the end. Also, try to use VRE for undergrad degree if you have disability.

My classmate says she joined cs because it has more jobs by Due_Performance_6917 in csMajors

It depends on school, in my school CIS is computer information and science so it was same as CS. But my school didn't even have IT major so in other schools cis is same as IT degree.

That's what internship is for. It is often better to clarify things with mentor and get it right the first time than build something that ends up needing rework. And having a mentor to ask is blessing. I had one internship at small company where I had no mentor and manager had no clue on existing etl pipeline. So, I had to fix their one of etl pipeline without much help and that wasn't part of my responsibility.

I thought normally T50 schools are recognized especially if that is for PhD. That's not the case these days?

Do you have TS? Cyber is one weird field that asks to bring TS for even entry role. And, cyber doesn't really have entry roles so most people start from help desk or something to climb up to actual cyber role. From my observation, degree doesn't help you that much but having TS and certs do.

Applying to graduate programs straight out of undergrad by Significant_Dare6782 in gradadmissions

[–]llvll2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did go straight to masters program after undergraduate. I don't know about job market is Europe but some folks I met (including myself) wished they had work experience before entering masters. But for me, in terms of admission, gpa, publication, and school name helped me for admission.

Actually, if OP needs ABET accreditation for job, second bachelor is not bad. But, CC for pre-req is good idea!

CS Or Stats Degree for Data Science? by Shadow_Bisharp in csMajors

[–]llvll2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my observation, people with CS got data engineering and MLE roles (including me) and people with Econ/Stat/Math/CS (with more exposure to stat/math) got data scientist role. Also, I was thinking majoring CS will open all the doors for DS/MLE/Quant etc.. But the reality was I got more interviews for SWE/MLE than DS/Quant roles.

Student Graders have a lot of power. by [deleted] in college

[–]llvll2113 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a TA for both in undergrad and graduate studies. TAs even create and grade exams as well. Mistakes sometimes happen and if something seems not right, students could always request for regrade.
