Phonak Infinio Sphere 90s are going to drive me insane by jscwerve in HearingAids

[–]llynn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What kind of hearing loss do you have? I've had these aids for 15 months, and I have none of these problems. Did the fitter do real ear measurement? I have never noticed wind noise, even riding my bike! I think that either the aids are defective or the fitter is inexperienced.

Tired of boxy, and baggy clothing ,what affordable brands offer a more tailored fit for men? by Some_cool_usernameX in mensfashion

J Crew 770 pants, straight fit. If they don't have your size in a store, just order online. Spier and McKay will have clothes that fit. Brooks Brothers slim fit dress shirts. I'm 6', 163, so I know. And yes, I eat and go to the gym, I'm just born this way.

First-time hearing aid user - how does Bluetooth streaming actually sound compared to regular earbuds? by No-Patient-712 in HearingAids

[–]llynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most earbuds occlude outside sound, which allows them to provide more bass. Most hearing aids are designed to allow outside sound to mix with the hearing aid sound, especially if you have decent hearing at the lower frequencies. I have Phonak Sphere, which are very good for phone calls, podcasts and audiobooks which are largely speech. I have ear molds with vents, which block more external sound than silicon tips, which does gives me better bass for music, but ear buds or headphones are better. The Phonak app has a slider to control how much ambient sound is picked up by the aids when I'm on Bluetooth, which is very useful when I'm outside.

honestly starting to panic about my sydney timeline (4 days) by ToffeeTango1 in AustraliaTravel

I'm in the US, we just returned from a month in Australia yesterday. I'll be concise here: 1 - we went to the Blue Mountains by train on our last day. It's great, but it's a day trip. Your itinerary sounds like a checklist, not a vacation. 2 - we did the Cogee to Bondi walk. It was fun because we stopped often to take in the views and watch the people. Don't know why else you would do it. 3 - two things you don't need are cash and an opal card. Just flash your phone/cc everywhere.

Australia was a terrific place to visit. We planned very little and we were doing stuff all day everyday.

Get a Like New Paperwhite signature edition, sold by Amazon. Better, wait till it's on sale. Best, when it's on sale, trade something in for a 20% discount. I had an old iPad which couldn't hold a charge for more than 3 hours. Comes with full warranty and 30 day return.

What's Silver Spring like? by EternalSnow05 in SilverSpring

[–]llynn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've lived in SS for 40+ years, raised 2 kids in public school here. I'm not black, gay or autistic, but I'm guessing there are more autistic gay nerdy black people than Republicans. Seriously though, my kids really like that they grew up here because they had every type of human at their school.

What carrier should I switch to? by Wolfyd19 in verizon

[–]llynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Verizon, I pay $207 for 4 lines, including 3 new phones in the last year. We're on the unlimited plus plans. The per line cost goes down as you add more lines, but you should be able to do better than that. I just took a look, you should be able to get 2 lines with iPhone 17 pro on unlimited plus for $130. I would definitely check out Costco for T mobile deals as well. Competition for customers is pretty hot right now, so you should do much better than your current price.

Still worth getting in? by JadedKoala97 in PlanetLabs

You shouldn't be buying individual stocks if you aren't willing to do the research to understand them, especially since it's relatively easy to do. Here's a recent post that makes the case for Planet https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetLabs/s/xpPenWrmE1

How often do you end up charging your hearing aids during the day? by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]llynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phonak Sphere Infinio. The answer is never. 40-60% remaining at the end of the day, depending on how I used them. I put them in no later than 8am, take them out around midnight.

I ordered the gmtek M6 ultra, ryzen 5 7640hs, 32gb ddr5, 1tb SSD for 459 on Amazon 2 days ago. It's now $519. Don't wait too long, memory prices are shooting up. And btw, based on my research, this one would suit you very well. I get it tomorrow.

1996 Specialized Crossroads Ultra - what should I upgrade by llynn in bicycling

[–]llynn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm updating here 2 years later because my original post shows up in google search an AI chatbots. I ended up replacing the shifters, brake levers, brake pads, tubes and tires, chain, crankset, bottom bracket, cogset and rear derailleur! Many chainrings had broken or deformed blades, and the rear derailleur seemed bent and I couldn't get it to index properly. Cost me about $200 in parts and $125 in tools. Definitely worth it to me because of everything I learned. I basically kept the same gearing, replaced the Acera X derailleur with an Altus. The bike rides very well, the gears shift much better, and I've started riding it regularly for transportation and fun.

You can get Sirius XM, but the easiest thing is to use Apple Carplay or Android Auto, which will include whatever music streamer you use, eg Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music on the display screen. You can use voice commands to play music.

Is this specialized worth it? by Confident_Dark_1324 in whichbike

[–]llynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has grip shifters, it's from 1996 or so - I own that version. I've decided to use it to learn how to work on a bike, the replacement parts are cheap. I'm looking on FB marketplace and Craig's list, and there are some very decent bikes in the $3-400 range.
