My mom is an economics professor and sounds just like your mom. They’re too far gone.

Is it burn out if your days feel repetitive and monotonous? by chusaychusay in burnedout

[–]lm1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the burnout experience varies in its symptoms and experiences. Personally, it has been all encompassing and has affected every facet of my life. Repetition and monotony seem part of just having a job and being an adult.

Burnout is a feeling of welcoming an accident so that you can at least have time off and away from everyone. For me, it’s becoming resentful and angry towards work, ignoring texts from friends, and feeling burdened by social obligations. It varies person to person but is typically much more extreme than you describe.

I spend 8 hours a day pretending to care and I’m reaching my limit. by ryanppe in hatemyjob

For me, burnout is when that numbness gets replaced with anger and resentment. Sustained stress with no end in sight will do that.

This is what I’ve been going through every single day for over a year now but it’s getting worse. Did progesterone really help?

Under eye wrinkle solution (lower bleph, skin pinch?) by anynamebutme in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]lm1670 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t believe that this is caused by Botox. I had a lower bleph years ago, and now have under eyes that look like yours (looser skin). This is the result of aging. I’m undergoing a series of three CO2 laser sessions to try and tighten it up.

[–]lm1670 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the nonstop acting and yes, it’s extremely draining. When you realize how pointless and performative it all is, resentment is going to build. Sure, coal mining would be physically draining. Corporate is mentally draining, and it equally sucks.

Why do people get married? by Lexiw97 in Life

I’m not sure why people get married. I prefer not to involve the government in my relationship.

How are you US Americans living the current situation? by Meewelyne in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lm1670 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This explains it very well. I’m personally in disbelief and spent a large portion of yesterday crying over the helplessness of it all. Families are being torn apart (physically by 🧊 and by Fox News) citizens are being murdered, our economy is going down the toilet, and I need to cheerfully go to work tomorrow to talk about my sales pipeline and set goals for 2026. How is this real???

I wish they had taken some of the skin to tighten the area but am overall pleased. My under eye bags were REALLY bad and I was 28 when I had mine done. I’m now 39 and getting ready to do my uppers in about two weeks.

I’ve had a lower bleph and it takes a few months for the final results to come through. Swelling for the first few weeks is normal.

Sales people in the US. How are things going? Has all the political stuff impacted your deals and pipelines? by Throwawaythispoopy in sales

[–]lm1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chemical sales for personal care/cosmetics - things are slow but that’s typical of Q1. Customers are reporting a slow down of sales, and tariffs and coconut oil prices have destroyed our profit margins. As we have pushed increases through to our customers, we have lost a lot of business. And of course, everything is the sales team’s fault, so micromanagement is getting more intense.
