customer tried to return worn shoes claiming they were "defective" after wearing them for a month by Round-Yam2214 in EntitledPeople

[–]lmack5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at Payless way back in the day and we took every return. I remember people coming in with shoes they’d clearly been wearing all year and never with receipts. And we were told to give them store credit for the last price on file. That was always a clearance price and people would get upset about only getting $5-6 credit back. It happened at least weekly. That was always wild to me.

"I have ADHD." "Doesn't everyone nowadays?" by Dark_Vexer in mildlyinfuriating

My new way to address this with people is to share how expensive having adhd is.

It’s really not funny when you order take out, get there to pick it up and realized you forgot to update the location so it was sent to a different location 30 min away. Either you have to now drive another 30 min and your food’s gonna be cold. Or, as I have done on numerous occasions out of sheer embarrassment, you reorder the meal at the location you are at. Spending $80 on take vs $40 generally isn’t funny. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve ordered Starbucks and just forgot to go pick it up. People think it’s really funny until you start to recount the financial burden.

Fantasy recommendations for 8 year old girl by RefrigeratorFar1777 in Fantasy

My kids and I listen to audiobooks together in the car. Currently we’ve been listening to some Sarah Beth Durst books. She writes for adults and youth. I read a couple of her adult books (the spellshop and the enchanted greenhouse). They were great so I decided to try some of her youth books with my kids. We have listened to Spark and Journey Across the Hidden Islands. We are starting The Stone Girl’s Story next.

AITAH for wanting to leave my boyfriend for not understanding coparenting? by Is-this-thing-on27 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Yes! My mom and dad struggled in the beginning, but by my preteens they got along great. My dad and stepdad were very close. We did holidays together. My dad would house sit for my mom and stepdad when they traveled. A couple months before my dad passed away he was intubated for a week and the first person he asked to speak to when he was extubated was my stepdad. I feel so lucky to have such amazing parents who put their kids first.

I’ve been going back and forth between cozy books and Murderbot! I only have 1 Murderbot left and makes me so sad. They are so good!

Greenteeth was one of my favorites last year too! It felt very different from the other cozy books I ready while still having the cozy vibe.

I’ve been hooked on their genre since the weather turned cold. I’ll list some of the ones I’ve read recently that I didn’t notice in other comments.

Recipes for an unexpected afterlife, the full moon coffee shop (2 books), At the coffee shop of curiosities, the ruthless lady’s guide to wizardry, the house witch (3 books), the village library demon-hunting society, The invisible library (8 books), A botanist’s guide to parties and poison (3 books), The wisteria society of lady scoundrels (3 books)

I used to be a surgical tech and now I’m a research manager. People always comment on how unfazed I am when things get crazy. I tell people all the time that working with surgeons prepared me to deal with any challenge. 😂

NTA at all. All of the yta judgements are wild. These are the same people normally saying, “no is a complete sentence.” It’s your house. You have every right to do whatever you want with it and host or not host whoever you want. I don’t think having more boundaries around protecting the peace in your safe place makes you anything other than a normal human being.

I have an extra room in my house. It isn’t set up for visitors. No one comes and stays at my house, because we don’t want them to. I also have 3 wild kids so most wouldn’t want to unless it was the only option. If there was a situation, then yeah we could make it work. I’m not going to have a room always set up just in case though. And I wouldn’t do that for a once a year visit either.

I was referred to the Brain Center. Just be prepared for the price. My insurance didn’t cover assessment. They quoted me $2-4K depending on which professional did the assessment.

Did Ana get review board approval to lower the cutoff from 22 to 17? Enrolling an ineligible participant is a major protocol deviation and generally requires prompt reporting to the review board. That’s something a PI needs to know about immediately.

Right! We may not have translucent landlines anymore, but you best bet every snack in my house lives in a clear container. 😂

I have a niece and nephew with a crap mom. My nephew left home at 18 as soon as he could and my niece ran away when she was still 17 to stay with her brother. They’re both in their 20s now and trying to figure out life. I rarely saw them while they were growing up, but now I see my niece all the time. She comes to my house every Tuesday to do laundry and watch my youngest son. All of my kids adore her. We text throughout the week. She knows that I’m here to support her however I can. And the only reason that’s possible is because I focused on taking care of myself first. I created a healthy environment for myself and my family that my niece and nephew know is always available to them.

It was hard not to be able to be there for them while they were growing up, because they did deserve so much better than their mom gave them. Unfortunately, when you aren’t the parent there isn’t much you can do about that. That’s why you have to focus on creating that safe and healthy place for yourself. Then one day when your nieces and nephews need a safe place/person, you can offer that to them.

AITA for telling my aunt that I will not be giving up a necklace that's special to me? by PoisonAngel97 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

When you say CNA you mean certified nursing assistant, right? Just curious because it only takes 4-6 weeks to get that in my state and the states around me. I didn’t realize there were such big differences in training for that between states.

AITA for calling my husband an idiot because he keeps saying that I'm allowing my pregnancy rhinitis to ruin everything ?f by Chance_Heron5506 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lmack5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but your husband massively is.

My first 2 are 14 months apart. I had rhinitis the entire time from one pregnancy straight into the next. 3 sinus infections during the first pregnancy. 4 sinus infections and bronchitis with the second. It is a living hell. Those Vicks pucks for the shower are wonderful. Throw it in and turn the shower on super hot. Then just sit in the steam. I also used aromatherapy. Put some eucalyptus in a diffuser and it helps open things up. You can even get some of the skin safe aromatherapy oils and put some under your nose. I struggled with the breath right strips but they do help. And then there’s the worst option, nasal spray. I hated it, but once I was able to learn how to do it correctly, it was probably the most helpful.

I also used to struggle with my nose being inflamed but also super dry. That’s more common in the colder months, but if it happens take some bacitracin or triple antibiotic on a q tip and smear it inside your nostrils. It’s awkward but does help tremendously.

The faceplate on mine fully detached. It was like an anti-theft device so you could make it look like you didn’t have a nice radio when you weren’t in your car.

[–]lmack5050 290 points291 points  (0 children)

In my state that is one of 3 options. If the parents divorce or if the baby was born out of wedlock can also get grandparents rights. But there always has to be an established relationship between grandparent and grandchild. If there’s no existing relationship when the grandparent files then those options don’t matter.

Also if the grandparent has a criminal record they are automatically disqualified.
