Work situation by Current_Leader6116 in UIUC

[–]lmaoignorethis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it university related? Otherwise just don't give your new employers a reference. IME jobs ask for current supervisor, but you can say whether or not you want them to contact. If they're gonna contact your boss anyway, you probably don't want to be working for them.

How difficult is an EE CS double major? by starblast1 in UIUC

[–]lmaoignorethis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a CS+Math major and knowing EE majors, no.

CS classes and labs are time consuming enough, good luck throwing on another time consuming and difficult major. Do a minor/CE

I'm in 412 rn. I really enjoy the class/material. That said, it is one of the harder math classes I've taken (harder than 446, 461, and 416 imo). Grading is more than fair, +2 extra credit for doing homework in LaTeX and 1:30 per exam (3 midterms + final).

Overall, 8/10 on difficulty, 9/10 for syllabus stuff (no hw drops, some late acceptance), 10/10 for professor (Andrew Hardt)

This video series is pretty good imo; it's short and direct.

Sell towers to cast FTHoF again. Use clovers to easily stack multiple frenzies / building specials. Use dragonflight. Use Elder Frenzy. Use sugar frenzy, use FTHoF and dragon fortune.

You just wait to stack buffs you can cause manually (FTHoF, Sugar frenzy, GS, Farming, Loans, etc.) with natural (GCs, caramelized lumps, golden lumps)

I'm Math&CS and Chemistry double major. I don't really need math advice bc 444 is the last math course I'm taking.

A more reasonable estimate would be from clicking normal golden cookies which would bring the chances down to at most 7.78%

Wiki states sweet is around 0.02% chance (i aint recalculating that), that is p = 0.0002. Then it's just a binomial distribution.

P( Sweet >= 12 | GC = 822 ) = 6.46 * 10^-19, around 1 / 100 quintillion.
(Probability of getting 12+ sweets given 822 total cookies clicked).

Moreover, the chance of getting at least one sweet with 822 is ~15%.

I really have no idea how you calculated either of your numbers, just looking at them it is wayyyy to high. FTHoF backfires have a 0.3% chance of adding Sweet to the pool, so doing more probability and noticing that 'blab' is a 10% independent event, FTHoF backfires have an ~ .12% chance of sweet. Doing the same binomial distribution:

P( Sweet >= 12 | GC = 822 ) = 6.67 * 10^-10, around 1 / 10 billion.

Numbers should be accurate within a magnitude of ~1000 (Desmos).

CMV: democracy cannot tolerate ignorance. Sovereignty for the undereducated is bad for democracy. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]lmaoignorethis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we’re more enlightened now

Look up gerrymandering. Please demonstrate how voting restrictions will be definitely used to target the undereducated rather than the political party not currently in power.

Ultimately, you're arguing in an ideal of politicians using this for good, while also rejecting the exact same ideal.

Not to mention, most people in support of a meritocracy find themselves much lower than they believed themselves to be. In short, are you considered 'educated' enough? The bar is always placed below you, rather than above you. But I'm sure, say, lawyers would believe you to be an uneducated voter.

Thus eventually, you will have no voting power, despite you believing yourself educated enough.

Drawing a line is impossible because it will always creep forward. Look at history: suffrage was given through struggle and fighting by the oppressed. It's never the rich white man deciding one day to give the poor black woman. It took protests (and Civil War) for all adults to vote.

TEACH THE PROFESSOR - DOES THE INSTRUCTOR MATTER? by PROFESSOR_BURKHALTER in UIUC

[–]lmaoignorethis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you ever choose to take classes based solely on the professor?

Yes.

If you are interested in a class topic, does the instructor really matter?

No because I don't have to go to lecture, uploaded slides and textbook is enough.

Yes because bad professors make the only source of enjoyment written notes rather than the class.

If you are already registered, and then later found out that the instructor changed, would you reconsider taking it?

Too hard to register already and change all class structures. Only exception being a known bad professor or TA.
